Stitch Along Wednesday: Week 35

Good evening!  So I'm back to posting on Tuesday nights.....the first two days of school went well...it's just HOT....second floor classroom, facing east...no a/c...tomorrow will be in the 90s with high humidity...it won't be pleasant.....

So, obviously I haven't done much since Sunday...I've looked at things and thought about it, but that's about as far as it got....so please post what you have been working on...sorry I haven't read many blogs in the past week or so...I will catch up soon...3 day weekend coming up!

Oh, I did finish the book, Be Frank With Me....it was very good....

YOP: Week 35

Hello there!  I have not done much this week...I did start a new project and yesterday I worked on some socks....

I am still sore from unpacking the classroom.  It is done enough to start school, but I got to the point of just shoving things in cabinets.  We have no a/c and I am upstairs facing east...which means I get the sun ALL DAY......it is brutal up there, especially if it is humid....I will take pictures this week and do a post....

So I started my Multnoma, which has been in my queue for years!  I shared a picture on Wednesday and it hasn't changed much.

Yesterday I got my sock knitting mojo back....
I finished my first Glenn Lives and cast on sock 2....the leg will go fast...I always stop when I get to the heel....
And I'm on the foot of my Live Long and Prosper....

I also pulled out some Hunger Games yarn, as then I was watching that...but it was late and I need to think of the pattern...think I'm going to do this...Pincha Shawl, with this yarn...
This is Capitol Couture by Friday Studios....she had a Hunger Games three month club awhile ago...It's bright and that is so NOT a pink I wear, but I love the turquoise and there is a grey and olive/gold color too....I looked at some of the costumes and many from The Capitol have high necks, so thought this was a perfect match, what do you think? There were also the Effie Socks, but I think the shawl has a better chance of actually getting finished!

Today I'm attending a quincenera and tomorrow is the first day of school..eek!

Stitch Along Wednesday: Week 34

Good evening!  Since it's back to school time...I'll be posting Tuesday evenings again, as I won't have time to post in the mornings....

Well looky there...could that be a new cast-on?  Why, yes, yes it is!  This is Multnomah by Kate Ray.  It has been in my queue forever....since Sam I Am was casting on, I decided to join her.

That is it...although the classroom is coming along....tomorrow I am in PD (professional development)  ALL DAY, so not sure if I'll work on my room....

After some mix-up, FINALLY got my blood drawn today - 8 vials!!!!!!!  She had to use two veins, as the first one dried up....So some nice bruises on my hands, because those were the only veins that popped (but not as big as last time! The last time, the entire top of my hand was bruised)

Oh also, we heard an AMAZING speaker at our convocation....Nelba Marquez-Greene, who lost her daughter Ana Grace in the Sandy Hook shooting....she has a non-profit now and partners with school.  We will be incorporating her Love Wins program in our building this year.  She came and spoke in our building today and is just wonderful.....

And lastly, the knitter, who lost her house in the flooding?  She has posted some updates on Twitter...I don't have a Twitter account, but posting a link to hers...there is a video of what her house looks like now...you can still buy a pattern, if you are so inclined!

So come along and join in...and please link back...thank you!

YOP: Week 34

I haven't done much this week, but work on my classroom...This is what it looked like on Monday...
This was Wednesday
It's getting there, about 80% done....but I've had a complication....my arthritis in my hands flared up and my hands have been sore and swollen since Thursday...I still worked in my room on Friday, but I am sore...
This was this morning and you can see that my finger is still swollen a bit, so I have not been doing any crafting...I did start a bit this morning as I was watching the Olympic Men's marathon, but taking lots of breaks...I went to see a new doctor on Monday and I'm actually getting a series of tests done to see if there might be another issue...but since I was still on the antibiotics for the ear infection, I had to wait until I was over that.

But on Saturday, I got to go see baby Lucy, I made the flower rattle and hats for her...
She was born a month early.  She is home and putting on weight...so cute!  And my friend and I went to a nearby park to do some Poke hunting...
She gave me my birthday gift...a custom pair of earrings...aren't they awesome?
I have some new yarn acquisitions, but will do a post next Saturday...I also rushed over to LB Art Yarns on etsy, as she is is putting her Walking Dead yarns on hiatus...so had to get the ones I'd been eyeing...

Have you heard about the devastating flooding?  Well you can help a fellow designer/knitter/crocheter out by buying one of her patterns...her house was flooded and she is trying to raise some money...Emily Ringelman...she is offering a coupon code to get 40% off. She's got some great sweater and hat patterns!  Pom-poms!

So that has been my week...teachers start back to school tomorrow, students next Monday.....

Wrap-Up Friday

Good morning!  I thought I'd have a completed classroom to show you, but no...it's about 70% complete at this point....so that is where all my time was spent this week....and abso-freking-exhausted when I got home, so no crafting was done....

But over the weekend, I made a plastic bag holder for my mother-in-law...I was gifted one in a swap...so I looked at mine and at some online and then just made it up as I went along....
sorry for the crappy picture...it was dark before I decided I should get up and take a picture...It's made with Lily Sugar and Cream cotton....very tough on the hands!

What about you?  Any finishes?

YOP: Week 33

Okay, so I had several questions on my last post....here goes...

Many people commented on my list....my list is not only Works in Progress, but also (WIM) Works in Mind...these are usually projects I have the pattern and the yarn already...I add to this list, but rarely subtract from it....

One of the reasons I keep this list, is I am trying to work on things that are ready.  I have wound many skeins of yarn, but then this happens....
Another question I had was how do I keep them all straight?  When I pick up a project that I haven't worked on in awhile...Post-its are my friend!
I also have been trying to be better at keeping notes in the project section of Ravelry...and I do have a stitch counter on my phone, but really I tend to use the Post-its the most...

How do I pick which one to work on?  Well, that really just depends on the day....I have a lot of sock projects, but I tend to put them aside when I get to the heel....so that's how they accumulate....lately I've been trying to work on the ones closest to a finish....but my Reyna is languishing, because I don't like doing the purl sides and all those SSK.....sometimes, it's just what do I feel like working on?  This is why I rarely work on things for other people...I don't want to be on anyone's deadline....and realistically, I am a procrastinator....this is my fun time, it shouldn't cause me stress....so I just go with whatever I feel like...even if it means like yesterday...the freakin HOTTEST DAY OF THE YEAR and I pick up my Stopover to work on....

So no finishes this week, but I did put a few stitches in several projects....
Stopover - I was following the pattern on my tablet, but had to print it out, because I was changing the arm counts a bit...
My Shelly Valentine...this one, I actually had no idea where I was in the pattern...I had to backtrack myself and figure it out...I have now put notes in Ravelry.
Meandering Top - This is in a magazine and I have post-its and notes written on the pattern....this I worked on quite a bit, but it's all short rows right now, so it doesn't look like I did much...
This started as a sock, so I just cast-on K2, P2...but I decided they would be AWESOME fingerless mitts, so kind of making it up as I go along...no notes for it, but it's pretty easy to read...I'm making them long....
This is one of those..OMG..everyone is doing it projects...this is the Carlos and Arne self stripe pattern yarn that was so hard to get for awhile....yeah, I should be doing the heel, but I just keep going round and round...I have another ball of this...
Raspberry Beret - At the beginning of the week, only the brim was done...I've worked a lot on this.  It's such gorgeous yarn!
My Glenn Lives socks...which I know is not happening, but I'd like them done for the new season...I have a skein of If Abe Dies, too....and I should get on those too :(
And my mindless cowl...just going around and around.....

Stash Acquisition Saturday

I know, I know...I've said it several times.....but when there is a good deal, I need to POUNCE!

So I found out that a LYS is closing.  It is about an hour from me, but has some delicious yarns....so I had to take a pop up there to see what was left.....

I had a couple things I was looking for...since working with the Sweet Georgia Cashluxe and IN LOVE with it, I was hoping she might have some...and she did...

The top is charcoal and the bottom autumn flame....they may be worked up together...

My cousin has asked me to make her daughter and her skull caps...so I needed some pink and grey, hopefully in cotton.  They live in Texas....

I just fell in love with these colors...
These are going to be some kind of fingerless mitts....

And some Zen Yarn Garden in Appletini and French Vanilla...again the colors...probably a cowl....

Another cousin just had a baby boy after many years of trying and she asked for a blanket...They live in Florida, so was looking for something cool and won't be too heavy.  Plus it's superwash.

I went to Knit Night at my local yarn shop...I don't go every week and she had this kit on sale for more than 50% off!  She only had these colors left, but it'll look great with blue jeans...
And then I received my yarn clubs from Mad Color....
From "A Galaxy Far, Far Away" is Boba Fett? BOBA FETT?!?  The Hubs says it looks Christmas-y, which I guess it does...

And from BAMF is Hermione...
So pretty!

It's funny, I see so many people doing Stash Downs and things like that...I am Stash Upping....the Hubs calls it my "retirement fund"  As when I retire, I may not have the disposable income and I'll have a large stash to use....(although retirement isn't for another 15 or so years)

So, do you want to play along?  Please link back...thanks!

Good morning!  I'm in a hurry...I do have something finished, but did not block it...so am going to wait....here's the link if you have something....

Stitch Along Wednesday: Week #32

Good morning my peeps!  It is grey and yucky here...thunderstorms possible...yesterday I went to the doctor and am on meds for a double ear infection.  My ears have hurt since last Thursday.  This is probably the most painful ear infection I've had in awhile...it hurts to lay on my left side....Yes, I'm a 48 year old woman who still gets very bad ear infections, it's my allergies...I'm allergic to dust, so I always have allergies, they are not seasonal.  But I have also been crafting!

Worked on my Raspberry Beret yesterday.  I started it on the day Prince died.  It is the Rustling Leaves pattern by Alana Dakos in Sweet Georgia Cashluxe Fine in, of course, raspberry.  This yarn is just...omg! YUMMY!!!!!!!!  I have a little over 25% done.....

I've also been working on my Simple Cowl...I'm not in love with this color of orange, so can't wait for the next color!

I finished the new Harry Potter book and started this last night....it's engrossing....Frank is a 9 year old boy, who is probably autistic....and very engaging....

And oh, found out a yarn store is closing...think I may be heading out there today....

How about you?  What have you been up to? Please link back, thanks!

YOP: Week #32

This morning I finished my Edgy Carol....I'm happy with it, but it does not look like the pattern...*sigh* I have yet to finish something that actually is exactly as the pattern was written...But I'm loving it...now to soak it, hopefully it'll be ready for Friday...
One of the threads I follow on Instagram as a craft of the day prompt...today was 16...here are 16 of my WIPs...no that is not all of them!  But I wanted to pull them all out anyway to reorganize and see where I was, as this is what the side of my bed looked like...
So the Walking Dead bag held Edgy Carol....I will be putting my Glenn Lives in that bag...I'm still on the first sock. (red and dark stripe in first picture)

The pink/yellow thing is something I picked up the other day to make my birthday twin....

So yes, I have lots of WIPs, I've only done the three baby things and I added a cowl and the birthday twin gift, everything else were WIPs...I've finished 3 shawls so far...I hope to finish one or two more WIPs before school starts up...we'll see....need to work on my Stopover, as it is my Rhinebeck sweater...(raspberry pink in top row on left - that's sleeve 1)

I have not been feeling well this week, bad earaches and sore throat and today I will be watching the Walking Dead Season 5 marathon and crafting....maybe I'll have one more thing done for Friday..

Stash Aquisition Saturday

Yes, I know.....but it was my birthday week!

So the kit that I could not find last week....
It's the Summer Lovin' Kit by Berry Colorful Yarning on etsy. There are still some available.  She did an example of the striping sock and I had to have it.  The little bags are cute, but I'm just not sure what to do with them, as they are small.  But the stitch markers are cute....But it's the yarn...I'm all about the yarn!

Some alpaca from our farm tour.  They are new to the business.  The yarn was a tad bit expensive (I felt) but I want to support small farms.  This is natural, undyed, however it is blended with some mohair.  It came from the mama alpaca, named Bolt.

And when I went back to Madwool for last week's Knit on the Beach, I bought some big, bulky Wool and the Gang!  It's in Sandtrooper Beige.  I plan on crocheting a big cowl.  I have a big black bulky cowl I crocheted two years ago and it's my go-to cowl.  So I wanted another one, but not white...

I also got
because it was on sale and I've been wanting some green self stripe.  This is made in Connecticut.  I had also ordered a green self stripe that morning, but the greens are different.

On my birthday, we headed to the Berkshires and I hit up a yarn store Ive wanted to visit for awhile.
This will be an Endless Rainbow.  I am making two of her patterns now and I have plans to make others...surprisingly, I've never made Hitchhiker. This is Ella Rae Lace Merino DK.  It's a tonal, but has a green tinge to it....The variagated will make it seem like an autumnal shawl.

Also picked up this, because it was fun...It's Delicious Yarns in Oatmeal Mix 2

And I received a Random Fandom club yarn.  It is "I Know You Are, But What Am I?"  Not sure about the reference.

I know I have two more club yarns on the way, and two things I ordered, so I may have another Stash Acquisition next Saturday....

But if you'd like to play along this week...here you go....let's all drool over the yarnz!
