Stashing!!!!

So I have been cold sheeping it in anticipation of Rhinebeck (this month) and Stitches East and NEFF (in November), but I still belong to yarn clubs.....

First up was the last shipment of the Into The Black (Firefly) club from Mad Color...Heather is all about color and while other people interpret Firefly with dark colors, hers tend to be much more colorful.  The latest was inspired by the Fruity Oaty Bar video in Serenity.  I'm probably going to make this into a colorful scarf...Also included in this package was my Jessalu bag....I really love her bags....but the next installment is Alice in Wonderland....not my thing, so I jumped over to Heather's other club, which means no bags....:(

I also received my Random Fandom on Friday...another colorful one...This month was inspired by Equestria....The My Little Pony nerdom....I've watched a few of the videos...but not my thing....but pretty and sparkly!!!

It's a good thing, I'm not afraid of color!!!!

And...I have finished my Age of Brass and Steam!!!!!  It is blocking as we speak (or type)...I'll show it off later....hopefully can get home before it is too dark to snag a photo.....

YOP: Week 39 and 40

So I skipped another week....sheesh...but I have been crafting......and I need to add some projects to the list....
Nerd Wars began....so I am making a monkey hat, and possibly a little monkey.  The hat will be done today.
I moved the Bedford shawl into the WIP's group, as I'm going to use that as NW challenge project.
I continue to work on my Age of Brass and Steam, I have about 7 rows to go. I need to finish it before I cast on the Bedford.
I also am on the strap of my Really Big Bag, then I need to felt it.
I am restarting Creekbed, it'll be a dissertation again.
I finished the Sooper Seekrit swap gift and that is a story that needs to be told! And I'm going to make one for myself...maybe for Rhinebeck!

I'm still going through my yarn and matching it with projects, especially if I bought the yarn for a specific project.  I'm putting it into plastic bags and labeling them.  I have so much!  But that won't stop me from buying some pretties at the upcoming fiber festivals (3 in the coming weeks!)

I just need to craft more!

Speaking of which, I've received two new skeins this past week.  I meant to do a Saturday Stash post, but got busy doing other things....so I'll have to post them over the week. 

Since I have such limited time, I'm thinking of getting posts ready on Sundays, then I can just edit them and post during the week.

This week I have a workshop on Tuesday, so I'll be home a bit earlier than normal. Yeah!

WIP Wednesday and Yarn Along

Wow...been awhile since I did one of these.....and haven't blogged in over a week...part of the problem is finding the time to craft...and then blogging about it...taking pictures is an issue...by the time I get home it's dusk...

Today I stayed home, as I was sick last night and did not sleep...so I thought I'd craft today...nope..I slept, I read and I watched television..watched the movie Zero Dark Thirty....it was really good...

But I did finally finish The Book Thief....this book was weird for me....I didn't dislike it, but for some reason, I could put it down for weeks.....it was very good and I'm glad I stuck with it....

The other book I've been trying to read is Soulless, the first in The Parasol Protectorate...so many people raved about this....I just can't get into it........I read LOTS of historical romances....I'm gonna plug on to see if I'm missing something...but I just don't get the draw to it.....

I've made a couple of hats...and what I am working on now continues to be my Age of Brass and Steam...which came out an odd color in this picture...

It looks brownish...but it's greyish..and I have no idea why the picture is thin like that..scratches head..

I also picked up my Really Big Bag to finish...I want this for Rhinebeck....

I am on the strap...it's huge, but I'm felting it.....

Also Nerd Wars started today...I so need the distraction!!!!!!

Another headache is starting, so gonna sign off....hopefully the links will be up in the morning before I leave...

YOP 37 and 38

Still having trouble finding time to craft....just so tired when I get home, usually in bed by 8:30-9:00,  But I have been reading and have finished up a couple of books....since it's easier to read, even when tired...I won't make mistakes that I need to go back and fix.....

I have not finished anything, but I have worked on something.  My sister is hosting an exchange student from Pakistan....I went over on Friday night to meet him...this boy is INCREDIBLE!!!  He will graduate this year, at 16.  He has been a youth delegate to the UN.  He is concerned with sustainable development.  He has also been a Goodwill Ambassador.  He was chosen to go with President Obama on a trip to Malaysia, but the exchange program won't let him go, because he would be leaving the country.  He is just an amazing kid....and really very nice, too.... I knew he was coming from Pakistan...and his 16th birthday was on September 20, so I started making him a hat, in the high school colors....he has never seen snow, so this winter will be a surprise for him!

Since I missed WIP Wednesday, I'll post what else I have "on the hook/needles"

This will be cast on soon, as soon as I am done with Ali's hat today...which means I need to wind some yarn again....speaking of which...

This is what I did last weekend....all yarn previously wound is now in a bag with the pattern name, and in a plastic tub...so I can just grad the bag, grab the needles/hook and cast on....

Hi Guys....

I miss you...I miss blogging....I miss reading blogs....I miss crafting....I was spoiled this summer....but I am getting back into the swing of things...and hopefully by the time Nerd Wars starts on Oct 1, I'll have time again to craft...and blog....

I was actually home early today, as I had a doctor's appointment, so took a 1/2 day...and I was sick last night...so I came home and went to sleep...there went the crafting....

I'm also looking forward to Rhinebeck....will be going with two friends and spending the weekend there....so I have been cold sheeping...but I am down to 2 yarn clubs...Don't think I'm going to renew for Mad Color this go around, as it is Alice in Wonderland (I think) and that doesn't do it for me....so I think I'll be down to Nerd Girl's Random Fandom....so I'm up to try some new ones...any suggestions????

A Different Kind of "Finish"

So I thought I'd show you how my classroom turned out....today another teacher came into the room and said it had never looked so good....the two previous occupants just kinda piled more stuff in the room and never actually cleaned it out...

 

Back of the classroom....I haven't had a teacher desk in about 10 years...We are still getting resources in..so the box on the counter is full of math materials....It's a new math program and has A LOT to it!  It's a bit overwhelming....

To the right of this area is my whiteboard and rug area, but my students were in the room, so although I took a picture with just the backs of their heads, I am not posting it.....

Front of the room....it has been absolutely SWELTERING the past two days, so I have 3 fans running in the classroom and we are still melting....the last hour of the day is TOUGH....

The boxes in the front of the room are the old reading series and old math series...they will be picked up sometime next week.....

I was so happy when I unpacked my last box......until.....one of my boxes of books was found in the computer lab....I haven't unpacked it yet....

There is always something to do...and I have a towering stack of plastic tucked in a corner...I need to work on my library....but it's been too hot to stay in the room after school....

tonight we are having a major storm and it'll be cooler tomorrow...thank goodness...

I am lucky this year, as I only have 17 students....Last year at this time, I had 26.. what a difference....and a couple of "itchy" kids, but no really major behavior problems like last year.....and they are young....I'm back in second after teaching fifth for the past 3 years....so happy to be back in second grade......so after the year that was "hellish," I am expecting a good year...if only the buses would show up on time...the last bus is 15-20 minutes late every day.....

I hope to finish my Age of Brass and Steam this weekend....

YOP: Week 36

It's looking like I'm not going to get much crafting in during the week...maybe once everything evens out..but we'll see...and I'm so exhausted when I get home.....

But I have worked a bit on my Age of Brass and Steam...I am on a fourth section...I still have LOTS of yarn..so going to keep going....we'll see where it is at after 5 sections....

I also joined a sock KAL, called Super Sock Scarefest.  The first pattern was released on Sept 1, but I cast on last night...it's an easy pattern, so hopefully will go pretty fast....I've done 2 repeats so far...

I've also got to get started on a swap gift....I've stalked her Rav page...she doesn't have a blog...but the projects on her Rav page are pretty telling...so I'm pretty sure what I'm going to make...

Oh and I joined a WIP KAL/CAL and am working on the BIG Bag...I want to finish it for Rhinebeck, as I think it'll be a great bag to carry that day....

I forgot one of my finishes...the 8 Beanie for Nerd Wars...love how it turned out, but it's child sized!  And I also added my ice cream cozy to the finish list...I did a blog post on that one, but didn't add it to my list...

Today I plan on crafting some more...not sure if we are doing anything else....the Hubs worked yesterday, so he may just want to veg today..and that is fine with me...

The weather has definitely taken a turn toward fall (autumn) and has been chilly in the morning...it was all of a sudden...one day in 90's, next in 60's...but that means I can start wearing my woolens and crafty bits soon....and I bought another pair of shoes to show off my knitted socks!
