So today was awards ceremony at school...and when all was said and done, I had 8 students left...so I combined my class with my friend, Deidre...and then Deidre asked the class(es) to talk me into going out for dinner (didn't want to go)...ended up going...so where do 3 Cuban-Americans, 1 Puerto Rican-American, 1 Italian-American, 1 Irish-American and 1 mixed mutt American (that's me!) go for dinner?
Well that would be a Mexican restaurant!
Happy Weekend everyone!
Tomorrow I am off to the Connecticut Sheep and Wool..what lovelies shall I find?

YOP #16
I feel as if I have celebrated already by seeing the play....the Hubs and I don't really celebrate...we did when my stepfather was alive, as it was his holiday..which included some nasty raisin sauce that was made for the ham. But since the Hubs and I don't have children, and my Mom is in Florida, we haven't really "celebrated" in years. But then again I have had this running through my head all morning...
This video felt like my church, we sing it very similar to this church's arrangement.

Epic Stash Saturday...
So on Thursday I headed to WEBS....I have two swaps to chop for and I just wanted to get away for a day....haven't done much this Spring Break, read a lot, watched tv..took naps...weather was really nice on Monday and then kinda crappy the rest of the week...with snow, rain, cold....
And what did I see? Honestly I walked around for at least 40 minutes without deciding....then this happened..
And who wouldn't want fun socks like those!
It's not even in the Ravelry database, so it must be very new...
Then I went back to the warehouse and picked up a few things I had seen on my walk through...I was CONVINCED that I NEEDED to make something in Orchid....so this happened...
There are actually 5 skeins..I've already started on two...while I like the feel of the yarn, it is really splitty! I also picked up the new Interweave Crochet and am making the Zelda Cloche with this yarn.
I also picked up this for socks...
I also picked up a skein of this..
but put it back and got three skeins of this
to make the Sermilik Shawl, an anniversary pattern for WEBS by Kristin Omdahl. I've been looking for a crochet shawl pattern. The yarn is also anniversary yarn dyed by Lorna's Laces in Valley Yarns Huntington.
Then I saw this
and got it to make the Centuria Tam by Franklin Habit....whether he knows it or not, he's my new buddy, since I met him at Stitches.....and yes it's the same color he used...another set of Anniversary pattern with Anniversary yarn....I also got some buttons, pins, hand lotion, and the two patterns.
But WAIT! I was NOT DONE, as I decided to stop by Creative Yarns on the way home....and these came home with me...
Malabrigo Yarn Silky Merino...cuz ya' know that blue I mentioned? Yeah....
And some of this..Zen Yarn Garden in a OOAK.....int he new Serenity 20
And then I found these in the sale bin...or rather shelf....
Both 100% cashmere at 50% off...and 4 buttons..gonna be a stripey cowl with buttons...any suggestions?
And yes I did get yarn for one of my swaps, the other one, I have to get a particular yarn...but I did buy some other little doodady things....

Finished Objects Friday...
Haven't done one of these in a while, but I have a few finishes...
Last night I finished a quick bunny hat with flowers for a friend's baby....
I've been in a couple of recent swaps...so for the fairytale swap...I made her a couple of headpieces...a crown headband (which you can also wear as a necklace)
A rose barrette
And a mermaid scale barrette...her favorite fairy tale is The Little Mermaid....
And another quick baby hat I sent off to a friend for her first grandchild...
Joining Fiber Arts Friday and Creative Friday, Tami is traveling and wasn't sure she'd get a post up..

It's Not For Me.....honest!
I am heading to WEBS......to shop for two swaps....I'm not looking for myself...honest! But ya' know if I see that deep blue color I was eyeing on another blog.....all bets are off!
The Passion of The King
I've never felt the need to wear my religion on my sleeve or proclaim who I am religiously, but here is the FYI....I was raised Lutheran, my mom was raised Catholic...my husband was raised Catholic...I do not attend church on a regular basis, but I believe in God and an afterlife....I did attend church regularly as a child and even went to a Lutheran school for 4 years....so I learned the Bible...but I also believe that religion and people's faith have caused more wars and heartbreak in this world than anything else.
But last night I went to see a production of The Passion of the King, put on by a local church, Crossroads Community Cathedral because a former student was in the ensemble and I was invited. It was also her 13th birthday.
The first act was very long....each scene was long and they didn't all necessarily have to end with a song. But there were some truly beautiful singers on stage. The highlight of the first act was a scene with all children and Jesus...then they dance and sing....it was adorable.
The second act was very different. It was extremely powerful. The second scene is The Last Supper scene and very well done...I teared up in two scenes, Simon Peter denying Christ three times....and when Christ was flogged...what you can't see in that picture, is Mary singing and wailing throughout the flogging...very effective...
The crucifixion scene was brutal (there is a warning that no children under 6 should be allowed, and the little children were not on stage during this) and I cried.
When Jesus walked out of the tomb, the audience broke into applause.
I'm glad I went, it was a very good production....and I got to see one of my favorite students and her mom on stage....
