Yarn Along

Reading:  Just finished  Stargate: Ouroboros and Stargate: SGA Unascended, the last one is the 7th book in the Legacy series....it ended on a cliffhanger, so there will be an 8th....

I never thought I'd like tie-in novels, but they were pretty good...and I've enjoyed the SGA Legacy series..

Reading: I started Outlander by Diana Gabaldon.  This is in anticipation of the series.  I also joined a MKAL for the mini-series..

Crafting: We just got back, after 5 days of traveling.  Although I brought 3 projects, I did not work on anything..Last night I picked up my Nerd Wars dissertation.  The skirt is getting quite large...I'm afraid it may be heavy...but I'm still loving it...

The new colors are a bit brighter than the ones I started with...but I'll do another set of duller colors..it'll even all out...

WIPing Wednesday and What I'm Reading

What I'm Reading:  Horns by Joe Hill.  Joe Hill is the son of Stephen King and has published a short story book and three novels.  This one is his second novel.   My husband has read them all and really likes his books.  I was skimming through our nook library and decided to try it.  Plus I'd seen a still of Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) from the movie being filmed now....I'm enjoying it....still not sure where it is going, but I want to keep reading it...

This week I am working on trying to finish some wips....I finished my Zelda cloche, I'm calling Orchid....that will be posted on Friday.

I'm still working on my Rainbow Wings, and can't wait till its done...I want to use it....I really love it...I'm on the 8th wedge now, which is usually the last one, but since I added a second skein...I may add one or two more wedges...

I'm also working on my Lanesplitter, my skirt for Rhinebeck...its at the 50% mark right now.....the yarn is rough on the fingers, so I have to work on it in smaller batches....but I'm loving the colors! I just added the next two skeins.....

I'm gonna take a look at my other wips, to see what else I can finish...think I can get a sock or two finished, too....I have so many pairs begun.....

WIPS on Vacation

So how many projects do you take on vacation? I took 2 pairs of socks, 2 shawls, and my Lanesplitter skirt.  I also brought yarn for possible 3 other projects...in addition to buying yarn while here....

I finished 1 shawl, renewed working on my Rainbow Wings. I needed to add another ball.  I am on the 7th wedge now...

I also worked on my Vanilla Latte socks, putting a couple inches on them..I have a couple more to go until the heel flap....the yarn is so squooshy, I can't wait to wear these!

I also worked on my dissertation for Nerd Wars, actually starting the project...the yarn is a bit rough, so I normally do 6-8 rows before taking a break.  But it is a pretty easy pattern..and I love the color changes....I'm already dreaming of wearing this to Rhinebeck with tights, ankle boots and awesome socks or legwarmers, depending on the weather...
Sorry the pictures are so dark, I took them at 11:00 at night....

I haven't read the past couple of days, but I did start a zombie book called, San Diego 2014, about a zombie outbreak at the 2014 Comic-Con.....since that Comic-Con is happening now...it's pretty timely...

5thAnnual Knitting and Crochet Blog Week

I wasn't sure if I'd take part this year,  but I decided I'd do as many days as I could.

Day One (Monday 12th May): A Day In The Life.
Describe a day in the life of a project that you have made, or are in the process of making.

On Saturday I picked up a WIP..it was going to originally be for a SWAP, but my swap partner dropped out....Then I realized my friend Deidre would love it, as she loves cowls....and this would be the first knit one...the rest I have made her, have been crochet....also her birthday was coming up...

So I picked it up and I still had three complete repeats (18 rows) to do....it may not seem like much to a knitter who has been doing this awhile, but I am as s.l.o.w. as molasses when I knit.  I frequently lose my place and have to have the pattern right near me.....

So I got through another repeat yesterday, so had 2 more this morning....

The project and I went out to the porch swing about 7:00 am...

Talked to a neighbor for awhile....knitted awhile...and then the wind picked up..and the project was being blown all over..so we came back in...and settled in our usual spot...

Finally, it was done...a new bind-off was used...the grandmother's bind-off....and then it went for a soak...

And a dry in the sun...

As it was still somewhat wet, about 8:30pm, it got a blow dry.....

and ta-dah!

and it is all wrapped up and ready for tomorrow (Monday)...

WIP Wednesday and Yarn Along

These two projects will possibly be FO's by Friday.  The blue afghan is for the Hubs and I'm so glad it is almost done...I am bordering it at the moment.  The Infinity Scarf has been featured here several times....I have 1.5 colors left to do..so again almost done...

I finished Sheepish and On A Highland Shore.  Loved Sheepish, really want to get her first book:  Hit By A Farm.....On A Highland Shore was also very good and I would like to read the next book, not sure if it is a series or just a sequel....

The House at Riverton by Kate Morton has been on my bookshelf for awhile.  I read her The Lost Garden.  It was one of the best books I read last year and I immediately went out and bought this book...then I got caught up the George RR Martin frenzy and put all other books aside....Although I have not finished the last Martin book, I figure there is no rush...it'll be years before the next is out...so onto other authors...and I saw another of her books the other day and almost purchased it, but figured I should read this one first...

As always head on over to Tami's Ami's for more WIP's, again I cannot link to the Yarn Over meme, but it is in my previous Wednesday posts...
