The Scarf is Done!!!!!!

Yeah!!!!!!

The iconic Dr. Who scarf..I bought the kit from Jimmy Bean and Lorna's Laces..and cast on during the 50th Anniversary episode....and finished yesterday during a snowstorm....It's made with Shepherd Bulky and this yarn is the squooshiest yarn ever!!!!!!!

I used a smaller needle, so knew I might run out of yarn, I did for a few colors, so I just shortened an few of the sections...and my fringe is not quite as full or as long as the original....but I'm gonna love wearing this!  Even if spring is supposedly on the way...so is more snow!!!

YOP: Week 6

What a wacky week!  Snow Day on Monday, school Tuesday, Snow Day on Wednesday, delay on Thursday.....we are getting more snow today, but it'll only be an inch or so...but a possibility of another storm on Thursday....we don't have school this coming Friday and Monday...it is our February "vacation" which turned into a long weekend two years ago...I have plans to go away with some friends next weekend...just gotta get through the week!

So the Ravellenics began and I started my rainbowllenics projects....I decided to try a Wingspan, as I've had it my queue for ages....not sure I'll finish it...but am loving it!

Rainbow Wings for Team Sherlocked

And a chicken for Team Bok Bok MF...no picture yet...

I also worked on The Scarf....one more set of directions to follow..it's 2/3 done

I did finish the test knit...I shared it on Friday, but here's another pic...

And the yarn has been arriving!
Not rainbow yarn, but green sparkly yarn with a bit of gold!  Luck of the Irish!
Rainbow yarn!  Worsted Weight..think I'm going to make a Barley with it
This is so awesome and will be Willow Cowl and probably some gloves...

FO Friday

It's Friday! Friday! Friday!  Whoop!  Opening Ceremonies tonight, my favorite is the Parade of Nations...

I have one thing to show this week.  I knit a test cowl for someone in the MadColor group on Ravelry.

It's called It's Just a Flesh Wound...It has not been published, but I have permission to show pictures.
It was a pretty easy pattern to understand, but somehow I ended up twisting the cowl..so there is a twist in it...plus I missed some yarnovers....but it was fun and easy and I'd make it again..probably without all the mistakes..

I used a heavier yarn - DK weight and the yarn called for fingering, so I just went up a needle size...

The color is Land of Oz, which is the yarn I used for my Spring Sweater....

It has little shots of blue in it....I really love this color.....

Snow Day #4

And I took pictures of birds...after we feed them....junkos, bluejays, cardinals, chicadees, sparrows..doves...a woodpecker and some squirrels...

The fence is our neighbors and they fly up to it when startled..or the tree..or to survey what we have thrown out....the bluejays were taking the peanuts and flying off with them..and then coming back...

Between taking pictures of the birds I worked on The Scarf....
It is 2/3 of the way done....

I also got some mail....
Pretty, pretty yarn..Mad Color Mad Posse...the last of the Harry Potter theme...next month starts Irish mythology...I'm hoping for some Pookah yarn!  But I am IN LOVE with this color..not a great picture..but it is so saturated...really purple with shots of blue...Kingsley Shackelbolt was the inspiration..
And a rainbow bag I special ordered...
It's from a friend in Wyoming, who recently opened up an etsy shop..check her out...Crescent Originals....and that was my snow day...how about yours?  (and I doubt this will be the last one)

YOP: Week 5

This week, I read....and worked a little bit on some projects...and slept and watched tv and surfed online....I went to the doctor on Tuesday, as I knew what was coming...yep..sinus/double ear infection..every year...I went back to work on Thursday..and I was pretty much sent home...only they couldn't find a sub until half day, so I put in a half day..no work on Friday...you would think with all the laying around I did, I could finish a project....yeah..no...NONE of my WIPs appealed to me...I did start a hat with a ball of something....and I did read 2.5 books..and I did buy yarn....but that was about all I did...

But Tournament 10 of Nerd Wars started yesterday...and I started my Tunic, which is my dissertation...and I worked on the testing cowl...I am almost done with that.....but that is all....

Diving Into The Stash

So for my dissertation in Nerd Wars, I decided to make something that I have had the yarn for since 2008...The Baroque Tabard Tunic....Here is the yarn...it's been packed in a box since then..

So the body is the grey Shadow yarn, but I'm thinking I'm going to get the yellow Caron yarn to match, as the purple I have is too dark..I think I want it more springy...see the threads of yellow in the grey?

And I'm not a huge pink fan, so the edging will be in the pink, but I think I'm going to get the yellow for the sleeves and belt...

In other stash news....well I fell down hard....I am still waiting on a shawl kit from Zen Yarn Garden and a skein of Stargate yarn from SoftnShiny....and well, I was looking in the rainbow yarn thread...and might have ordered another 5 skeins of yarn.....

But I did get two club yarns in!

They are both from Mad Color...the top one from the Dizzy Color Sunnydale club, that she is doing with Dizzy Color....and the second from the Mad Color Posse..and is inspired by Luna from Harry Potter....the Hubs really likes the second one, so I have to find something to make him....and I got a shipping notice that Random Fandom from Nerd Girls is on it's way...wheeeee!
