Stitch Along Wednesday - Week 8

Good morning...hope all is good in your world.....I am sick....after doctor visit yesterday...sinus/ear infection that are pretty routine for me....so with that in mind, haven't worked on much this week...

How about you?

I have been reading...I'm still on Cinder by Marissa Meyer and enjoying it immensely....what have you been reading?

Come along and join us in the link party....I have been using the free code, but if I keep getting people that want to link and it grows, I'll upgrade....oops...just link to the first one, can't seem to delete the second one...

Love Your Library - Vol 8

So I finished my first project, out of The Knitter's Book of Socks...and started my second project out of the book...I'm kind of stalled on that project though...so yesterday I started another...I need a grey hat.....so I pulled out a bunch of books I had...first looking through Ysolda's Whimsical Knits..and then pulling out Stephen West books....and I decided on Bedrock out of Westknits Book 3.  I have finished the brim and am starting the pattern for the crown...it's a new one for me!

This was taken at night...it is a lighter grey..more of a medium.....

And I'll probably start another sock from something.....I have startitis.....

Must be the weekend.....cause it's snowing again...seriously..every weekend for the past several weeks....although today it should get up to the forties....after the icy crud stops falling from the sky..

oh, well...onto the fibery goodness....

Sunflower: (August 2012) Need a back and to felt

What else did I work on?  well I pulled out my Adele socks and got several more rows done...I'm at a point of, do I want to start the heel flap now?

I also worked a bit on my Irish Tea socks....they are toe up and already a bit big..and I'm suppose to increase for the special heel support...and I think they will just be too big...so they were set aside for the moment...

I also put in a couple rounds on my Capelet....it sits on the side of my bed in a pretty yarn bowl, asking to be worked on every day.....

And many more rows on my Hawk Batkus....almost to the halfway point, I believe...

Except for the Irish Tea, which is part of a challenge...I have successfully staved off the "must cast on/hook all the things" feeling....I've also been doing quite well on the yarn acquisition front..and resisting the urge to splurge.....

As I have no pictures of projects.....how about some creepy dolls?  I went to a local indoor flea market yesterday looking for an old sock egg....found one...but also lots of creepy dolls....

And this was only half of the booth! See you next week.....

Projects in Mind - I have the pattern and the yarn  - this list is remaining about the same...I could add a ton to it...but I'm not going to at the moment...I think when I move one of these projects to the WIP category, I will add another project to this list...I like seeing it all laid out..and it is not overwhelming to me..because it's my list and I can follow it or not!

Freshly Finished Friday #7

Good morning from the Arctic Northeast!  Yes it is currently 2 degrees, but with wind chill feels like -12 degrees....and tomorrow...must be Saturday, as we have another snow storm on the way!

So I have two finishes this week!  The first are my Stepping Stone socks...they are the first pair completed for the Love Your Library challenge....they are made with Malabrigo Rios...and are thick and squooshy!!!!!

The second project is Ita's shawl/Danae's cowl.  Ita is Danae's mom....Danae is one of my best friends...Ita passed away last week, after a battle with Alzheimer's...I had been making her a shawl for the nursing home....I wasn't sure what to do with it....I knew Danae would not wear a shawl...but Danae loves cowls...so I changed the shawl into a cowl and gifted it to Danae yesterday....I added buttons, instead of sewing the ends together, so she can wear it as a scarf, if she wants....
Yes, it's green...Ita's favorite color....

Eventually you'll see some not green projects on here....

So check out the other places for Friday Finishes....here, here, and here....

Stitch Along Wednesday - Week 7

I hope this week is finding everyone in good health...I have had a craptastic last week..so it can only get better....

I have one finish.....my Stepping Stones socks, which I showed yesterday...but will probably post another picture on Friday...

I was also making a shawl for my friend's mom who just passed away...she will not wear a shawl, so I turned it into a cowl for her....I'm going to add buttons, so she can wear it as a scarf or as a cowl.....so this will be shown on Friday...

I also worked on my Baktus during Walking Dead and put another couple inches on it....

I also started another pair of socks for the Love Your Library challenge....

I have joined two new groups on Facebook....Addicted to Sock Knitting and Addicted to Indie Dyed Yarn, which is an off-shoot of the first group...come join us.....

I also started reading Cinder  on the nook.  I kinda stopped reading the Kate Morton book...sometimes I do that....I just stop reading something and then pick it up later....

So, if you have anything that you have been working on, please post and link up with us.....and please post a link back to us....many of you still have Tami's links up..and she is no longer doing these...

Love Your Library - Vol 7

So my post is a little late today, as I was finishing up my first project for this!!!!  I had the day off today, as this is now our truncated February break, we get a long weekend...anyhow..

last night I fixed the mistake on sock 2 of Stepping Stones and today I finished sock 2!  Yeah!  Since they are made with a thicker yarn, they are most definitely squooshy!  And the second sock sports my best Kitchener stitch to date!!!!

So presenting:  Stepping Stones by Clara Parkes
Yarn: Malabrigo Rios in Lettuce

New Skills:  Heel flap with alternating two strands of yarn

Oh so happy with these!  So first project done from The Knitter's Book of Socks....and second project has been started...another pair of green socks...although they are looking big at this point...but totally new construction....

Year of Projects - Week 7

Hi..I'm posting really late....it's been a bad day around here...my husband's younger sister died suddenly today....she had been sick, but nothing too drastic...come to find out, she had been bleeding for a couple of days and not told anyone...so her body shut down today....my husband lost his older brother three years ago....he is now the only one left....I was home all day, waiting to hear from him, but didn't do anything...I wanted to knit, but felt that doing something I felt pleasure from was somehow wrong....

His family is very private....and he and his sister were extremely close....this will be hard for awhile....she and I had a cordial relationship, but weren't close....I feel bad for him...and I am sad for him...and tomorrow I have a funeral for a friend's mom...I did not go to the wake today, obviously....but she was such a wonderful spirit.....

I am going to post my YOP, so that I stay on schedule...but, besides my socks, haven't really done much this past week...

 2015 Completed Projects:
White mittens - 1/10/15

Stripes Cowl - 1/22/15
Frosty, the Snowman - 1/24/15
Head Wrap - 1/24/15
H's Everyday Socks 2/7/2015

I worked on my Stepping Stones and got to the foot on sock 2...and then noticed this...
See the difference?  There is an instep pattern that I neglected to start on the foot that is different than the leg pattern....I figured it out..I have to drop 11 stitches...that should be okay....

and I started another pair of socks from the same book.....and they are green...no judgment...

Another Snowy Saturday....with Stash

So on this fourth snowy weekend in a row (it may only be the third, but it seems like it has snowed every weekend for weeks and weeks).....anyhow.....I have some stash to add on this snowy Saturday....

First up....

A kit from Holiday Yarns...I don't remember how many months this runs....this might be the last.....and while I'm not a fan of these particular colors...I'm interested to see how they will knit up....and they can always be a gift....

Secondly is the latest Nerd Girl Random Fandom...inspired by 300...which I have not seen....I know, I know...Gerard Butler and all....

This is Sparta! It has sparkles....I do like these colors...

And I joined a group, Addicted to Sock Knitting, on Facebook..and well, its worse than Ravelry....because these gorgeous socks keep coming through my feed....same thing with Instagram....so anyway, someone was making Wicked Witch of The West socks...and well I had to get me some...so from Neeley's Knits, comes this...

So I'll be making some of those....and today there was something about an Outlander sock kit....so might be getting that......

How is your Saturday? Is it snowing and snowing where you are? It's suppose to end tomorrow...and then we have another coming in on Tuesday...

I'm up there in the Never region.....

Freshly Finished Friday

Socks...I have socks!  Socks that were started in January of 2013! And finished in February of 2015...that's a long time!  And the kicker is, I have other socks that are older and not finished...

So..may I present my H's Everyday Socks...or Hermione's Everyday Socks....in Zwerger Garn Opal Memory...
They are big....the feet aren't, but the ankles and legs are....obviously I started these before I was more comfortable...so I only made modifications by accident...except for the heel flap..I did shorten that on both socks...They need a soaking, as they are a bit scratchy..and I may throw them in to tumble dry and see if it'll shrink them up a bit....

So what have you made lately?  Go on over and hook up to these people...Wisdom Begins in Wonder, Freshly Finished Friday and Creative Friday...

Stitch Along Wednesday Week 6

So sorry this is late today...I had no power for several hours....

So yesterday, I updated my Love Your Library...and those socks are pretty much all I've worked on the past couple of days....I also finished a pair...they'll be shared on Friday....

How about you? You can leave a comment...add a link back to your blog, or add a link from your blog to here...thanks!

Love Your Library - Vol 6

So I was going along nicely on my second sock, got past the heel (which took me forever on the first sock, about an hour or so on the second) past the gussets and onto the instep...then I compared socks...
Can you spot the difference?  I continued with the leg pattern on the second sock, when I was suppose to switch to the instep pattern...gah!  As it was 9:00 at night, I wasn't going to try and fix it...so I figured out what I needed to fix and marked it...I need to drop 11 stitches...it'll be a PITA, but better than re-knitting all the rows....

So what to do?  Start another sock from the same book....So introducing Irish Tea...
It's Cat Bordhi's Darjeeling in "Luck of the Irish"...

I know it's another green sock...don't judge...it's a different green...and seriously about 70% of my stash is varies shades of green...and probably 60% of my wardrobe....I like green and it looks good on me!

Stepping Stones is a top-down sock with a thicker yarn...Darjeeling is a toe-up sock with sock or fingering weight yarn.....

Year of Projects - Week 6

Good morning, almost afternoon here...we are in the middle of a "snow event" it snowed a couple inches yesterday, will start snowing this afternoon for several more hours, will continue all day tomorrow and won't stop until Tuesday morning...not a ton of accumulation....expecting 6-12 inches by Tuesday....we'll see if I have a snow day tomorrow again...these long weekends are getting to be a habit...and another possible storm coming in for Thursday.....this is all happening in the middle of testing...so it is becoming an issue....I actually need to run out today before the snow starts....yesterday I went out for a few minutes, and promptly fell, as it is all ice under the snow...a nice big bruise on my knee....

So what is up with the crafting? Well last night I finished a pair of socks I started in January of 2013! Yeah! I am really trying to finish up some old wip's...will post a picture on Friday....

2015 Completed Projects:
White mittens - 1/10/15

H's Everyday Socks 2/7/2015

So this week, I have worked on socks...finishing the H's Everyday Socks and starting sock #2 of Stepping Stones....

I have also worked on my Hawk Baktus.....I really want to finish that.....also, on Saturday, I did some organizing...take a look at my Saturday post...I think it'll help me finish up some projects, as I can actually see them now....

I am fighting startitis, but am managing it...trying not to start anything new until I finish a few more things....lots of shawls and socks still on the needles...have a sweater on the hook....and a couple of motif blankets I'd like to complete...trying to get things under control...

Organizing the Projects

I'm really good at keeping prone ts in their own project bags, but I tend to keep what I'm working on by my bed...however it was getting over run...

Underneath that mess is a basket and a magazine holder...the table is a TV tray table...I looked at this mess the other day and said I need to clean it up....so I went and bought one of those 6 cube organizers and today, after a couple of hours...

I also labeled all of my box bags, so I knew what was in them...the other bags, I know what the projects are....that second shelf is full of sock books, a couple crochet ones, which I have yet to try....but at least I can see my resources now....my next job will be culling the magazines and books....I probably have a couple hundred....as there is another basket full of books, and three more shelves in the spare room full of books and magazines..We'll see how long I can keep it clean....but it does make me happy...

And it snowed a couple more inches today....suppuse to snow many more tomorrow...and some more on Monday...and possibly into Tuesday....lots of snow....

Stitch Along Wednesday - Week 5

Good morning!  I actually have to go to work today!  It's tough getting up this early after so many days...

So onto the stitchin' as I have to make this quick....

I worked on my Hawk Baktus on Sunday...and I'm about 40% done...although the Seahawks did not win, it was an exciting game....(Although I watched Downton Abbey during the second half and turned it back for the end)

And I worked on socks...I was starting to get SSS (second sock syndrome) on my Stepping Stones, so Monday night I pulled it out and cast on the second sock....I worked through it for a good part of the day on Tuesday, then switched over to H's Everyday socks, as the second one is almost done....I am now on the foot...they are way too big for me, but every sock is a learning process....

And I haven't really been reading lately...but the Hubs just downloaded Cinder, a science fiction/dystopian Cinderella story...he keeps telling me I have to read it...so I'll pick that up...but also am still reading the Kate Morton...just didn't pick it up this past week much...just didn't feel like reading....

What about you?  Feel free to join in, add a comment, link form your site....Thanks...

Love Your Library...Vol 5

I was starting to suffer from SSS (Second Sock Syndrome), so last night I pushed myself to cast on the second sock....and I'm just shy of 50% on the leg....
I'll probably get most of the leg done today...then it's the heel flap, which actually took a long time to do....but I will love these when they are done...

Check out Snapdragon to add your link....

Snow Day #2....and the real storm....

Last week's blizzard was very hyped.....as they always are...hey ratings are hard to come by nowadays with so much competition....but in the middle of Connecticut, where I live, we got about 7 inches...not that much...we had a snow day and a delay the next day...it had pretty much stopped by 3 and the cleanup could begin....but the eastern part of the state was walloped and they were still digging out...

Today we had a snowstorm, with a much bigger impact on my area of the state (but couldn't be called a blizzard, because the wind gusts were not as heavy).....not sure what the final total will be but...here we are at about 6:45 AM..
It was snowing at a pretty good clip, but small flakes....

by about noon, it had slowed down a bit...
And then about 3:00, it kicked back up again...we started getting huge flakes, then smaller flakes, then a lot of flakes again....
It finally stopped around 6 or so...but temps are dropping to below zero....and everything is going to freeze over....so they just called a snow day for tomorrow.....as the sidewalks will not be cleared enough for the safety of the students....so that's three we have to make up.....no more....but we have two more storms heading for us in the next week....

(Connecticut just had a bunch of earthquakes a couple of weeks ago)

Sunday, February 1, 2015

Year of Projects - Week 5

So another weekend...another snowstorm...we are expecting 8-14 inches starting today and snowing all day Monday...I am expecting another snow day...that'll be two we need to make up...that's enough...

This is our front yard right now (I just took it at 6:45 AM)
So another foot on top of that....and it's been cold too...brrrr.......

I'll be staying indoors...and playing indoor games....knitting, crocheting, blogging...and oh yeah maybe some grading, as we got an extension on grades because of last week's snow storm....I do have to run out at some point and gas up my car....but it's not an emergency...but I do have to turn it around in the garage or I'll never get out of the driveway on Tuesday....

But onto the knitting...and crocheting....

2015 Completed Projects:
White mittens - 1/10/15
Quick Crochet Cowl - 1/12/15
Stripes Cowl - 1/22/15
Frosty, the Snowman - 1/24/15
Head Wrap - 1/24/15

So nothing new is finished.....same ole, same ole....actually I did no crafting from Tuesday through Friday, as I had injured my wrist...it's better now...but somehow I injured the deltoid and bicep muscles on my left arm...just very painful...I don't remember doing anything to them...but I can hardly move my arm right now without shooting pain, almost to the point of crying pain...so going to rest it...and I have some pain meds left over from my kidney stones...take them and some anit-inflammatories...and hopefully it'll heal....but I can still knit and crochet with it....

Mostly, when I could, I worked on my Hawk Baktus to try and finish it for today....not happening...but I'll continue to work on it...I also did add a bit to my Zuzu's Petals....but that is about it....

Okay took a pain pill and need to go lay down now, as it seems to be knocking me out...I'll read everyone's update later....
