YOP: Week 31

So I finished two baby hats this week...and worked on my Reyna and my Edgy Carol...I am on the last section of the Reyna (well technically, there is another, but it's only three rows) and the last section of Edgy carol.  I really want to start another shawl, but I need to finish at least one more before I do...I think that is about it....this is my birthday week....so I'll be doing fun stuff all week....

Stash Acquistion Saturday

I was very restrained at WEBS last Saturday!

I knew I needed some red and white for a hat for my nephew...I went with their brand, Valley Yarns...
Then, of course, some Madelinetosh...I walked around and around the display to figure out which ones I wanted.  I finally settled on Pashmina in Odyessy and Blue Nile....
When I went down to the beach for Stitch and Beach on Tuesday, I stopped at MadWool and picked up this...
It's going to be a bandanna style shawlette.....It is by TwoHands Knitting

And in the mail....

I absolutely adore this!  She split it, so we can knit two socks, but I think I'm going to do a shawl with it...It is littlebeancrochet in Hobbit Feet.....gradient green...swoon....

I also received a kit, but can't seem to locate the yarn ATM....so it'll have to go in next week's....yes there will be a next week!  We are doing a farm tour today (sort of like a yarn crawl) and there may be yarn involved...;)

Wrap Up Friday

Good morning from a very rainy Connecticut.....

I have two finishes this week...two baby hats...
The green one is 100% organic cotton, Debbie Bliss Eco Fairtrade collection.  It's a bit tought to work in, as it's pretty thick and well...cotton...

The rainbow is left over from my socks....in White Birch Fiber Arts...Nothing Says Screw You, Like a Rainbow.

The rainbow one is also a premmie size, but may still be a bit big...Lucina was born on 7/27 and is only 4 lbs 15 oz

I have some of the green also in pink, son that I know the gender, maybe I'll make another one in that color!

Now I can get started on the sweater!

So how about you, what have you finished? Please link back...thanks!

Stitch Along Wednesday: Week 30

Hello my friends!

It is still hot here in the Northeast....yesterday I actually went to a Stitch and Bitch at the Beach.  It is sponsored by Madison Wool, a yarn store about an hour from me.  I really like the store.  She brings in a lot of indie dyers and there are all the up and coming books and pattern available....yes I bought something while I was there, but I'll share on Saturday....

The black flies were biting constantly and none of us had brought bug spray...finally Dayna went back to the store and got some...I also met someone else who is doing GISHWHES!

Think I may go back with my friend Maureen next week...

I didn't get too far, because the flies were so bad....but the views were fantastic...
A bit of the display put on by the sunset.....

How was your week?  I have also started 4 different books, but haven't read anything this week...

YOP: Week 30

Helloooooo out there!!!!!!  It has been 7 weeks! Seven since I last blogged.....I could give you tons of excuses, but it is what it is!

So I am going to use the new banner....made by Cyra of Free Form Stitching

Most of the people in YOP go July 1 to June 30, so they have recently posted their lists and goals for the year.  I go January to December...

So what have I been up to in the past 7 weeks?

Completed Projects:
The Dork Socks (technically 2015) 12/31/15
Screw You Rainbows socks (1/6/16)
Quick Pink cowl (1/7/16)
Yoda (1/10/16)
Bulky Cowl (1/19/16)
Jacinta Capelet (2/28/16)

Turtleneck Capelet #2 (3/31/16)
Fortune's Shawlette (7/12/16)
Irish Oak (6/19//16)

Well look there! I have finished two shawls!

I would have another done, but I ran out of yarn...so I can either buy another skein or rip it out and weigh it, as it is a corner to corner type shawl...haven't decided yet...

I have put work into several of my projects....but for awhile I had no mojo, so didn't work on anything...back to the mojo and want to work on ALL THE THINGS! I have been good and not cast on or started crocheting anything new....but I do have to do that today...as a baby is on it's way....she is being induced on Tuesday...yeah!  So I'll have some baby things next week, hopefully! So I guess that is it for me...also I'm typing this on my desk computer and there is no a/c in this room and we are having a heat wave...so I'll say goodbye for now...

Stash Acquisition Saturday

This past weekend, the Hubs and I took a car ride...thought we might go see the Kent Waterfall, but the park was super busy, so we just went into Kent...

I knew there was a yarn store, I had been to it a couple years ago....I did not take any pictures.  She has moved locations since I was last there...she is in a much bigger location...Black Sheep Yarns.  It is a very nice space...lots of room, very bright.....the owner is friendly.  She was giving lessons to someone while we was there....although there was a bit of "hovering" going on....

I did pick up a few things....
 Oink Pigments in Sarcasm....
 Local yarn 100% alpaca
Local yarn 100% Icelandic

I loved that she carried several local yarns!

I also, finally! snagged a copy of Franklin Habit's coloring book...the last one she had!

So, in the mail, I received
This was a limited edition kit....I also received stitch markers, a sock pattern and two small triangle bags...Not sure what I'm going to use the bags for, but will gift one to a friend....There are a few still available, Berry Colorful Yarning

I absolutely adore the colors in the stripes!  I am "helpless in the face of self-striping yarn," same as the Yarn Harlot!

I also had ordered a skein of yarn for my Yarnfibre swap buddy from Moonshine Fibers.  When I mentioned that to the vendor, Jeannie, offered to extend her 20% off for me to order something for myself...well I took her up on it (she had then decided to extend it for the whole shop)  I picked up a skein of her Angel Sock....people this stuff is like floating on heavenly clouds!!!!  It is 70% baby alpaca/20% silk and 10% cashmere...OH. MY!!!!!!!  Baby alpaca is my favorite soft fiber ever!  Then to pair it with silk and cashmere.....oh, yummy!

Today I am heading to WEBS...I know, I know!  A friend invited me, so I invited a friend....then the first friend cancelled, but friend 2 and I are still gonna head up....

I have some specifics...I need some chunky wool in red and white for a hat for the nephew...he's heading to college this year...so school colors...I made him a hat in his high school colors....

I'm not sure they are carrying Hedgehog Fibers, but I'd love a skein of Egg Yolk, if they are...

And I'm sure I'll pick up a Madtosh or two...because it's what I do!

I have given myself a budget, but we'll see....this will be my last yarn shopping excursion until Rhinebeck!  With the caveat, I still receive three yarn clubs a month...and if I visit any new LYS (always a possibility).....but a skein here and there is a possibility!

Have a wonderful Saturday and come back next week for another installment! (Next weekend, the Hubs and I are doing a "Farm Tour" or really, he asked if it is like a "Farm Crawl" like my yarn crawls)...yes, yes it is!

Gonna throw up the link, see if anyone wants to share some recent beauties...

Wrap Up Friday

I have a finish!!!!  I finished Fortune's Shawlette, which a crocheted shawlette...I'm loving it...
It was made with speckled yarn...the speckles are deeper at the bottom...It is Plymouth Yarn Happy Feet...lost the band, so don't know what color....I also liked the look of it before I blocked it...I may make one like that...I've got three skeins of something I've been itching to use...

Now off to see the new Star Trek movie....

How about you?  Any finishes?

Stitch Along Wednesday: Week 29

Good afternoon!  Sorry I'm so late...just one of those days...lazy morning, went back to bed....

So I have worked mainly on my Edgy Carol....

Sorry, bad cell phone picture....Anyway I am on section 3 of my EckenKanten.

I also pulled out my Stopover sweater last night....I ripped the arm back to the cuff, as it was wide enough for both my arms...almost...
And was able to reknit it to about the elbow...
yes, it's still a bit wide, but that's okay...I don't like tight fitting sweaters....prefer a big, boxy thing....My problem is the size I have to make for my body...I am overweight, and have very big "ladies" needs to be adjusted for the rest of me...although I am overweight, I have a very small bone structure...so my wrists are about 6 inches...but that is what's great about making your own clothes, as you can fit them to your body shape....

So how about you this week?  What did you work on?

Florida Adventure

So I have always wanted to go on an airboat ride.  I didn't care if I saw alligators, the ride just looked cool!  My mom and I talked about it the last time I was down, but never ended up going.  My aunt lives closer to the Everglades, so we decided to go one day with my cousin Tracy. We went to the Sawgrass Recreation Park

We got on the boat and then promptly got off the boat because there was storm coming in...
And we waited...

It was quite a rainstorm....we got pretty wet, even though we were under cover...

One of the boats came untied during the storm and they had to tow it back....

After the rainstorm, we had to continue to wait because of a maritime law about the distance of storms....so we checked out the animal exhibits...these were all rescued animals...my cousin Tracy had gotten her degree in zoology or something like that...
Really BIG alligator

Imagine keeping that as a pet!
I love these foxes!
Really big tortoises
There were many more...lots of alligators, 2 Florida panthers, birds of prey, etc....

Finally we could get on...
And off for the ride!

We did see a couple of gators in the wild....of course they try to attract them to the boats...
So much fun!!!!! We only took the 30 minute ride....I'd love to go out and take the 60 minute ride....

Wrap-Up Friday

Afternoon!  Sorry this is so late...I actually have a FO, but not a picture, so I won't be posting it today...do any of you have a finished object to post?  I will throw the link up. just in case....

I will be posting later about one of my adventures in Florida...

Yarn Store Review: Four Purls

This was my third time visiting this shop in Winter Haven, FL.  Conveniently, it is located about 20 minutes from my Mom's house.  Every time I have visited this shop, it has gotten better!

My first visit was in 2012...blogged here and my second visit was in 2014, blogged here

They had moved across the street to a bigger location before this visit.  Let me just say, this is what you want a yarn store to be!  It is friendly, it is engaging, tons of samples, bright, colorful, and it is FULL with lovely, lovely yarn...

The front of the store had some weaving tools...
They had this fantastic display for babies..
And just all over goodies...so many yummy yarns....

The middle of the store had a great seating area.  There was also a table to the left of the register, where some regulars were sitting and crafting....

I did a Stash Acquisition Saturday while I was in Florida flaunting boasting, uhm sharing the goodies I bought...if you'd like to see, please go here

As I said on my last review, definitely give this place a visit if you are in central Florida....I had to STOP myself from going back...as I knew I had no more room in my suitcases....next time bring less clothes!
