Stash Saturday

So I haven't stashed much lately...I've been a good girl....not that I haven't been tempted....I've become an Instagram junky and there is a lot of yarn yumminess on there!   So, except for VKL, I have not shopped for yarn....but I have received a couple of clubs and a backorder....

This came in today....the latest MadColor Mad Geek Club....Star Trek inspired
Called Doomsday Machine.....I really love this colors.....and want to wind it immediately.....

Sorry picture is not too bright, its too freaking cold to go outside and take pictures....

This is the newest Dizzy Color Patrol 3 shipment....Buffy, season 3...The Essence of Cool....not sure I like this color....not something I'm drawn to......

And..
This was a back order and will be my next stripery socks, so I'll have black ones and white ones...its Canadiana from Fishknits...

I did put in an order for The Wicked With of the West sock kit.....I'll share when I receive it....:-)

Today I am working on my Hawk Baktus, it won't be done for the game tomorrow, but at least my wrist is feeling better....and looks like we might have another snow day on Monday.....

Freshly Finished Friday

So I didn't think I had anything, but then took a look at my Ravelry page...and I had two finishes this week...way to go me!  They are small ones...

The first one is the latest FreshStitches kit...an adorable little snowman, that I made during a snowstorm...

This is Frosty...I made his nose a bit longer...and added a hat and a scarf.....

Then the last thing was that headband that I committed myself to making for the person at work...
It actually didn't take too long and he loves it...he has braids, so I left the back open, so he can put his braids through...it is very large...I measured his head and with the braids it was 27 inches....

It was made of some Debbie Mumm yarn I had in my stash...

So that's it for me...please go and see what others have done...

HardKnitLife, Wisdom in Wonder and Creative Friday.....see you soon!

Who Am I?

So realizing I didn't have an About Me page...I decided to make one...so if you'd like to find out some fun facts about me...just click on that tab up there that says, Who Am I?....also any and all questions are welcome....

and here I am ....a little throwback on Thursday...

That's my fashionable Mom in 1970, holding me...my cousin Lynn is in front of us...

The original family....My brother and I looked so much alike...my face has not changed, but his has...

Then when I became a middle child....
That's my stepdad, Bill, in green and my brother in laws in the back...and 4 of my nephews..

Last picture with my dad....and my niece Allison...

And my mom remarried several years after my stepdad passed away....
So Mom, stepdad, Ed..Allison and Kyle, when I took them to Florida...

My two younger brothers....this was taken this year and is the first one of the three of us...

My evil niece and nephews.....the eye flash is horrible, as is Marc all blurry in this picture....
And the other niece and nephews (step and blended families can be complicated)

The three nephews, Jorden and Marc....and Christian peeking in..without the evil flash...
Kyle and Allison without the evil eyes...

So you can definitely see...my nieces and nephews are so important to me and a huge part of my life...

but here I am in true geeky fashion
My Wesley Crusher sweatshirt (a Christmas gift) holding my Wil Wheaton doll in a Wesley Crusher sweatshirt and my Wil-key, a monkey I made...inspired by Jonathan Coulton singing to Wil Wheaton...the monkey is wearing a red shirt, in honor of Star Trek and wearing a Jayne hat from Firefly....yep...that's me...

Stitch Along Wednesday - Week 4

Happy Wednesday morning from the snow covered Northeast USA.   Where I live, we did not get the expected totals, but it was still enough for a snow day and a delayed opening for today...The eastern parts of the state and north of us got walloped...

I had a pj day and knit most of the day, finishing sock one of my Stepping Stones...
The toe is a bit wonky, as I had too many stitches...but I can live with it....this is the first time I've used my sock blockers...had them forever, just forgot about them....

I also worked for a bit on my Zuzu's Petals....love this colorway!
And my Dark Side of the Moon socks.....and earlier in the week, my Hawk Baktus.....but then I had to go and do grades....and I tripped and this happened...
I braced myself from falling with my hand, causing shooting pains in my wrist up to my elbow...luckily I had a brace from a previous issue...so wore it for the rest of the night...but the knitting/crocheting was done for the night, so I read...
I really enjoy her books....I've read them all, except this one....

So what did you work on this past week?  Did you get hit with any of the snow? I think we have potential for more later this week....

Please link up with us...and if you do, please provide a link back from your blog....comments are always appreciated...and I visit each person who visits me and leaves a comment....have a wonderful rest of the week!

Love Your Library - Week 4

So I have been working steadily on the same few projects, with a bit of an interruption (I'll discuss those tomorrow)

Anyway, as we had a snow day today, I did finish my first Stepping Stone sock!  This picture was taken a couple hours before I finished....The toe is a bit wonky, as I had too many stitches, but the rest of the sock fits awesomely!!!!

So, hopefully no dreaded SSS...or second sock syndrome...but I do have to work on a few other things first....

Vogue Knitting Live - Finale

Are you sick of them yet?  This one should be shorter.....so after Floor 1 of the Marketplace, and stopping for lunch, we hit up Floor 2 (or actually the Sixth Floor)..anyway this floor had many of the vendors I see at the various fiber shows around New England...so we kind of breezed through it...I did stop at the Holiday Yarns booth and bought a sock kit...and said hello to a sickly Jennifer...

I also took some pictures at Neighborhood Fiber Co....because they had some fun things...

Really, really wanted that cowl....

And I really liked a shawl at Dragonfly Fibers
and this chair was really cool...
But the highlight was the Stephen and Steven Fashion Show..I met Stephen West at Rhinebeck a couple of years ago...and he was in absolute constant motion on the stage...here's a taste...

Finally a decent shot...
But seriously, this is how most of it looked...
GGmadeit has a video of the show on her Facebook page...and she has much better pictures of the whole weekend on her blog...she was there all three days...

After this, we headed home in the gloaming....
It was a wonderful Saturday spent with a fun, enthusiastic fiber friend...next event?  The Connecticut Sheep and Wool in April.....I am spoiled with shows...but this is now the "dry" season...

Week 4 - Year of Projects

Good morning!  We have finally had a significant amount of snow, with a storm yesterday...and it looks like a major storm coming in for Tuesday...and then another possible one for Friday....think I'll be getting at least one snow day this week!
We shall see!  Seems like we will be getting a winter's worth of snow in one week's time....

So onto the projects....This week I've worked on a few things...I received the latest kit from Stacey Trock on Friday...and it was a snowman, so, of course, I made it on Saturday! Then I made a head band for someone at school...see this is what I hate...he didn't ask me to make it, I volunteered and then promptly mentally kicked myself...because now I'm committed to it...grrr....I hate when I commit myself to things...

Although I do have to start a wrap for a friend's mom....she's in a facility now, as her dementia has gotten too much for home care...it's a sad story....

I also made another quick cowl to wear to school on Friday....I posted it on Friday

Other than that, working on my Hawk Baktus, hopefully to finish for the game on Sunday....and I also put some rows into my Zuzu's Petals, working on the heel of Stepping Stone and got to the heel of Dark Side of the Moon.....

Vogue Knitting Live - Part 2

On the second floor was the Seven Wonders of the Yarn World...

They were all very intricate, here are some closeups of the Taj Mahal

See the crochet hook and the knitting needle?
The back of the Great Wall
All crocheted...just amazing!

There were other fiber artists on display...

All this before you even went into the Marketplace!
