Stash Acquisition Saturday

Da-dum, Da-dum, Da-dum....it's Shark Week and I bought two shark kits that came in this past week....

First up...
Shark Bite II: The Revenge...there is a knit along with Jimmy Beans Wool, where I purchased the kit...I really wanted the main color....I do have the pattern and will make them, just not with the knitalong...(I know I showed this last week, just wanted to show them together)

and
This is for Shark Bite, the original pattern.  The kit came from the Unplanned Peacock.  I will have much fun making these!!!!!!

I also picked this up at my LYS during KNit Night...It's going to be the lace portion of Water, with a darker grey from my stash the main color.....

How about you?  Any new stash acquisitions?

Stash Acquisition Saturday

So just a few things to add today.....

I've looked at her yarn several times, but is the first time I've ordered....These may have been on sale..or not....It's String Theory Colorworks in Free Radical

And the first shark kit arrived...this is for Shark Bite II: The Revenge by Laura Smoot....I also ordered a kit for her first shark pattern....I've had the pattern forever, seeing as how Shark Week is this coming week...I've always loved Lorna's Laces...this is Splattershot with mini skeins of Sharky Grey and Natural....it really is very soft! There is a KAL starting, but we all know how I do with those....
And I may have some more things coming in the mail....including some yarn to make the Wonder Woman wrap...as I finally saw the movie and I decided, yes, I needed it.....

How about you? Do you have anything new to add to your stash?

Stitch Along Wednesday: Week 28

Good morning....I may have to go back to doing these on Tuesday evening....anyway...I finished a couple of projects and really haven't worked on too much else...

I did take my Stormborn shawl out...ya' know since Winter is Coming, to figure out where I was and put two more rows on it...I'm on chart B....

I'm also working on a test knit.....the pattern is not really showing up well in the yarn, but I'm only knitting one, as they are too big for me...

And I've added a few rows to this sock..although I seem to have lost my 5th dpn, so I need to search for that...sigh....
So how about you?  What has your week looked like?

Stash Acquistion Saturday

Okay...indie dyers just need to STOP!!!!!  Because I have no will power!

First up...Rock and String was having a birthday sale...not only was there a percentage off the yarn...she reimbursed your shipping costs!  How could I say no?
I've looked at this one several times...Mountain Twilight...yes, it's self striping...

Witch Candy did it again...this is one of her Two for Tuesday that was so popular, she redyed it....it is inspired by
and all of it's beautiful patina! Called Liberty and Yarn for All....

And my clubs...
BAMF from Mad Color...I had to look this one up...Sombra from the video game Overwatch...I don't play video games....the colors are perfect, I think she nailed.

and...
Her Story from Knitted Wit...inspired by Martha Hughes Cannon and calico fabrics used by the pioneers....

I've also bought a shark sock kit and plan on buying another.....and a couple more self stripes....

Just in case....

Wrapup Friday

Haven't done one of these in awhile....I've finished a few hats...
A hat for a friend's son, who is battling a brain tumor, among other illnesses...this was the first time I've done this type of knitting...I'm not sure what it's actually called..stranded?  I loved doing this!  I already have plans to make a few more hats...there is an Always one that recently was released...obviously the colors are inspired by Goofy
A red, white and blue P_ssyhat...it's very warm! I used leftovers from my nephew's college colors hat and Nerd Girl All American Avenger....
Another hat was my rainbow hat...bought this yarn from a vendor at Stitches United...the vendor was from Canada....the pattern is the Basic Beanie from Patons
I'm still having an issue with my hats being too big....when I first started knitting, they fit...so my knitting tension has definitely loosened up...I need to go down a needle size or two...or actually check for gauge...hahahaha...that won't happen!

And finally, a gift for a friend's daughter's first birthday....the colors are Gryffindor colors...as the Mom is a Harry Potter fan.....
I didn't make an i-cord for the waist, but braided a belt....I've only done an i-cord once before and didn't feel like looking it up again.....it is the first time that I have done duplicate stitch......the pattern is Das Monster by Hronn Jonsdottir.  Loved making these!!!!  Will make them again!

So I'll throw up a link if anyone else has some finished objects to share....

Stash Acquisiton Saturday

So I finished up the I91 Shop Hop...guess I didn't win any door prizes because I haven't heard from anyone...oh well...sigh....I actually didn't get too much from the last four stops...

This is a shop yarn and I got it for a poncho they had on display...my friend Maureen got the same one..
Again, bought only this at one shop....it's got an interesting feel to it...I'm hoping it'll have a nice drap.
They had a whole bunch of "kits" put together for their free patterns, so I bought this one....

I adore the color of this first yarn...and it feels like such a nice hardy yarn.....the second will become a "crazy hat"

I love the colors...have no idea what the fandom is and too lazy to look it up...okay I looked it up...Nameless Order is from The Great Wall movie...I really love the colors..and it's a tweedy yarn, which just speaks to my heart....

The last couple come for the LYS' I visited on Wednesday....
I adore this color!  It is so hard to capture..it's a tealy, jeansy green-blue...It is Meadow by The Fibre Company and is just lovely...and  545 yards will make a decent shawl!

I am a SUCKER for these two colors together...I don't know what it is about them, but I also bought pompoms of the same colors....think a couple of colorwork hats, as I loved making the Cancer hat...
This yarn is just so yummy..it is Blue Sky Alpaca Extra...and just YUM!!!!

I am heading out to watch an All Drag version of The Wizard of Oz....my friend Tony is playing Glinda...have a great weekend...

Just in case...

Reflection

Yesterday I was driving through Newtown, CT...on my way home from a yarn shop....and I had to pullover for two police cars and an ambulance...and I just thought...how does that affect the citizens of the town???  I can imagine there may be a moment of fear and anxiety, I felt it myself....

Today I got up the nerve to finally watch PBS' An Independent Lens Newtown...and cried though the entire documentary...

At the time, I had no connection to Newtown.....not even sure if I'd ever been to the town...although I think I may have been through it.....today, almost 5 years later, I have met one of the parents and have received a book for my classroom from another parent....I cannot imagine their lives, as any parent of a child who dies before their time, it must be, at times, unbearable....

I think, as a teacher, what would I have done in that situation?  One of the people who was interviewed remarked that he found one of the children with his teacher's arm around him...I just cannot imagine...and am tearing up again at just the thought....

It is scary that our country is more divided than ever.....I had to unfollow a cousin on Facebook because as a conspiracy theorist, he doesn't believe it happened.....I explained my reasons through a pm (I really don't believe in airing that stuff publicly)...and he was pretty cool about it, but did add "as long as I don't say that 9/11 wasn't an inside job." ****sigh****

we just celebrated the birthday of this great nation, and I love being an American.....but there are many things not to be very proud of lately...or in our history....but even if I can't always march or protest in the physical sense....I hope I am doing my part to make this country better by being a teacher....I really do think it is the most important job....and as one t-shirt says, "it makes all the other jobs possible."

And I'm going to leave you with a quote from one of the children that died that day....it is important to remember this....

Stitch Along: Week 26 - WHOOPS!

Well....no excuse, except this.....
So, I remembered about 2:30, while I was on my way to a yarn shop...LOLOLOL, so I'll share the pretties from that...it's not a new shop, it just moved locations....it's about an hour from me...she was waiting on some orders, so while the shop was full, it wasn't as full as it could have been...she is a having A Hundred Ravens trunk show in August, so I'll probably head back down....but here's some pics for you to enjoy...

It is also a needlework shop...

I only bought one skein of yarn, I'll share on Saturday, because I stopped somewhere else....but I also got this awesome monkey bag!
The shop is A Stitch in Time in Bethel, CT

So what are you working on?   and I promise.....
