Who Am I?

Hi there...I just realized I don't have an "About" me page....when I find a new blog, I tend to read the about me page, just to get an idea of who the blogger is...so here are 10 things about me...

1.  I am a teacher.  This year (2018) I am teaching third grade (8-9 year olds)...I love teaching, but it can be frustrating and stressful (sometimes the kids, but mainly the politics and the people who decree what I must teach, but have never taught a day in their lives...)

2.  I am a wife....September 2018, we celebrate 27 years...married life can be tough...you need to work on it...but 99% of the time, it's wonderful.....

3.  I am a fantastic, number 1 aunt and my nieces and nephews are featured often on my blog....they are Jorden and Marc (both adults now), Kyle (just became an adult), Christian (in college), Allison, Anthony and Elliot (all high schoolers) and Sammi (in elementary school)...Unfortunately, we were not blessed with children, but I fill my life with kids anyway...okay full disclosure..I have two nieces in another state I have only met once...and two nephews here that I do not spend a ton of time with...(those complicated blended/step family relationships)

4. I love to read....I have my Master's Degree in Reading...my favorite classes were my Children's Lit classes...BUT I was a non-reader until second grade and had to get extra help....

5.  I collect Cinderella stories.....I've written papers on Cinderella stories (in those favorite classes)

6.  I am the oldest of two, but the middle of five...confused?  I was ten when my parents divorced and it was just my younger brother and I....my mom remarried and my stepdad had 3 daughters, two older than me, and one younger...I became the middle child.....but I strongly believe in birth order characteristics and by ten years old, I was an established "oldest" child...this caused some issues...(I also have a younger half brother and two other stepsisters from a step-mother, but I did not grow up with them)

7.  I love learning about history...one of the greatest gifts my father gave me was a desire to know things....we had a set of encyclopedias and when I had questions, he would tell me to look up the answers...I love the Internet for this!  especially when watching movies...I check out the IMDB page of the movie...

8.  I am a geek/nerd....whatever....today we had an animated conversation at lunch because the other teacher didn't realize that David Tennant (Dr. Who 10) was is Harry Potter The Goblet of Fire as Barty Crouch Jr.....My first love are the sci-fi shows/movies....then zombies...LOVE post-apocalyptic things....and I could go on....my Dad was Trekkie, another thing to be thankful to him...and brought me to my first Star Trek Convention when I was a kid...I've now been to Xena, Stargate. Star Trek, Walking Dead and Supernatural conventions.

9.  I crochet and knit....I was mainly a hooker for many years, as I did not want to learn to crochet, as I feel it is treated as a "red-headed step-child" (and I'm married to a red head).....but socks sucked me in.....so now I knit too.....and hoard yarn....my Hubs calls it my "retirement fund"

10.  I love to travel.....road trips are a particular favorite....just get in the car and go....I lived in Germany as a child...I have been to Croatia, Mexico and Canada and Norway.....I have been to 39 of our 50 states.....

oh and I live in Connecticut on the east coast of the US......

That's me in a nutshell....
