So I have two projects that I finished this past week...one I worked on in Norway..and the other a pair of socks for a friend...
I made a small shoulder poncho, because it was cold in Norway...yep it was ready for my flight home...LOL....I bought 4 skeins of this beautiful yarn at a yarn store in Norway...
What a great yarn! And so warm! It's 70% alpaca, 7% Merino and 23% polyamide...They call it a medium thick blow yarn.....the poncho is not super long, but it is super warm....and was a comfortable wear on the plane ride home...I just made up the pattern as I went along...
And I finished the Freedom Rollers for my friend...I hope they fit her...
They are a little big on me, but her foot is bigger....
So what have you finished...so noone that I normally link to has a link up...so I'm going to throw one up..if anyone wants to link....
Hello there! I am back, but not still 100% human. The jet lag has kicked my a$$ this time around...plus we did so much that by Saturday I was exhausted! So still trying to catch up on my sleep and energy.....
So this is the yarn I came back with from Norway. The blue in the upper right was 4 skeins..I used three...that'll be shown on Friday. I will do a more in depth post on Stash Saturday, as I have squishy mail I came home to, also.....
But I have been working on socks...
I'm almost done with the first rainbow sock...just finishing the toe...it may be done by the time I post this....
And my Norway socks..which I did work on there, until I got yarn and started something new....
Since I've been home, I've also put some time in on the Freedom Rollers..
What have you been up to? So sorry last week's didn't work out.....
I also have been reading a series by Nora Roberts that my Mother-in-law gave to me...I'm on the third book...it's good summer reading....
As always, please provide a link back when you post...thanks!
Sorry, had it scheduled to post and it didn't, sorry...
Okay...not sure what I'll put here...if I'll add anything, but wanted to have something up for you guys to link....so if I don't add anything, it's because I'm too busy discovering Norway...play nice amongst yourselves and I'll be back next week!
And the linky is gone and I don't remember my password for it......so if you'd like to share. Add your link in the comments....so sorry this did not work. I'll be back next week...
Yesterday we went to a couple of yarn shops (posts later) and then drove around the countryside and decided to go see a waterfall. Tone thought we could drive to it...nope, we had to climb a mountain. I did not have on good shoes for this and am seriously out of shape...it took me an hour...but I climbed that mountain!
Was it worth it? You decide....
I have other pictures, but they are on my phone, and I can't seem to blog from my phone.
I'm getting this set up for when I will be away....I'll actually miss two weeks, but hopefully will get on to post this on Sunday...as it's suppose to be raining in Norway at this time.....
So onto finished projects...I have one added to the list...my tablet cover, which I shared on Friday

So I am a Stash Acquisition Expert....yes I am...sounds so much better than Yarn Hoarder or Yarn Ho....
I told myself I wasn't going to buy anything until I went to Norway...yeah I lied.....
First up, Marvin Says by YarnEnabler...I showed this one on Wednesday, as part of my travel project....
While I was at it, I also bought her No. 2 Pencil....
They make pencil socks....as a teacher, I had to have them! I held off for quite awhile on buying this...
Last skein of MadColor's Baker Street club...oh the purple! Purple Shirt of Sex. Signups for the next club is going on...I opted out, but will be back in the fall....
So I have a few more in the mail...and I'll update this if they come in before I leave tomorrow (I am writing this on Wednesday)...if not, you'll see what souvenir yarn I buy when I return....
Update: First Norwegian yarn purchases.....the first store was in a mall...more of a craft store.....there was lots of yarn,
They were selling trolls, so of course I bought some Troll yarn.
Then we went to a grocery store...dudes, there is yarn in the grocery store...you can buy yarn with your vegetables!
So, of course I bought some. My friend Tone also bought the same one to make socks
It's a cover for my tablet. I have two, and this is the smaller one that I am taking on my trip...it needed a cover....So I found some Mirasol Akapana. I just created it as I went...
I crocheted a chain until it was slightly bigger than width of tablet...then I crocheted in the round, half double crochet in back loops..at the top, I added a shell stitch....although the yarn is gorgeous (it's kind of tweedy)..I decided to add a picture...so pulled out my scraps and created a grassy hill and three flowers...the only part I really don't like is the color of the sun...I didn't have a really yellow, yellow...so it's lemon yellow....
I also figured the picture would add some more protection to the screen of the tablet....
I am traveling today....I fly from Charlotte, North Carolina to London (overnight Thursday)...I have a long layover in London (about 6 hours) and I hope to get into the city for a bit...and then I fly to Stavanger...so I'll be exhausted!!! I'll check in at some point to see if this posted....
Good morning! Next Wednesday I will be in Norway!!!!!!! I will have a post ready to go...but honestly the last time I tried to schedule a post, it didn't work...so I'll at least have one ready tog oa nd if it doesn't, I'll just pop in and post it....does that make sense?
As I said on Sunday, I kind of lost my knitting mojo this week...but on Sunday, I did start a crocheted tablet cover...
I did finish that and will post on Friday....
I also needed to start my "travel" project...now I have tons of socks in various states, but I wanted to work something new...so I wound up my Marvin Says from YarnEnabler and started on a pair of Pin Stripe Socks...they are my Martian Marvin in Norway socks....(and I'll be wearing them for The Martian movie this fall!)
The stripes are going to be of different sizes...and it's a little thrilling to see what color is coming out next...
So I guess that is about all for me right now....I plan on doing a couple of posts, my Friday one..and I have a Saturday one planned...and then my YOP for Sunday...I will also be posting from Norway when I can...my friend has WiFi, so should be good...I won't arrive in Norway until Friday night..
This where I'll be...
I hope you all have a wonderful week!!!! Any vacation plans?
Good afternoon....I've had a very lazy day...I've been watching some of the Comic-Con panels and laying around in bed...had a rough night and didn't sleep well....finally got up and decided I should post, as I won't be doing a YOP post for the next two weeks....as I'll be traveling...getting so excited!
So I didn't finish anything else this week....but I did start a couple of things...

I've not really had any crafting mojo the past couple of days....I did start my Flaming Arrows shawl on Monday...but that is about all...I have to whip up a quick holder for my small tablet, as I'll be taking it with me and I don't have a case for it....I put a few rows in on most of the socks...I also pulled out my Shark in the Woods cowl and added a couple of rows...

A couple months ago, I started seeing advertisements for The Hunger Games Exhibition in NYC. I knew I was going to go. I love, love the books and the movies...read the books, way before the movies came out. Plus I am a huge Jennifer Lawrence fan, ever since I saw her in Winter's Bone...she was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G in that movie (and it really was a similar character to Katniss)
Anyway, I have made the Katniss cowl...I made up the pattern as I crocheted it...It's not exact, but this was before many patterns were out...
and I had joined a Hunger Games yarn club from Sweden...and also bought some Girl on Fire yarn from Nerd Girl....I own the books, and the movies....I just absolutely love this fandom....
The exhibition was really nice. It was well worth it. They had a lot of costumes, set pieces, lots of information and ways that you could "immerse" yourself.
You first enter the Hob....and yes, I looked for yarn...as yarn is mentioned in the book and is traded in the movie (most post-apocalyptic books I have read, mention yarn or knitting/crochet....and the series WOOL is well named Wool...awesome series, BTW!!!!!) So, of course, there is the famous Mockinjay pin....
They didn't do one book and then the next, it was all kind of
scrambled....but there is the famous cowl....and jacket...I will say, it
is tiny! Much smaller than I thought it was....lots of Effie's outfits
were on display...They are absolutely amazing....the shoes!!!!
This was a very cool exhibit. The table was interactive and you could choose any district and it gave you information about the district and the tributes. I spent some time here.
What was also cool was it showed the map of how the districts were arranged. I always thought the Capitol was is the center...and the districts were in ever growing rings around the Capitol.
This was a mockup of the train...it was pretty cool! The clothing to the left is Haymitch's from Catching Fire...There was one of Peeta next to him....I did not take pictures of everything...
Sitting in Katniss's spot on the train....
Then we headed into the Capitol.
President Snow's costumes.
There was a chair across from him, so you could sit and pretend to be interviewed by him...and the face moved, like a hologram...and I thought this was funny...the hair!
And then Katniss's costumes...the famous dresses...they were gorgeous...lots of details!
You couldn't really get too close to the chariot...the black and red "feather" dress from Catching Fire was amazing up close...so much detail!!!!! I didn't notice it on the screen, except for the shoulders...
The original Girl on Fire dress...so beautiful!!!!!
This was an exhibit of four of her iconic looks...
The Mockinjay dress....not as impressive as on the screen, but still beautiful....and the wedding dress...
They also had a showcase of the weapons from Mockinjay Part 1
and Cinna's sketchbook
At the end, what was very cool..was on homage to the fans...they had a display of fan art...now that is paying attention to your audience...they are also doing this on instagram....they feature an artist, not sure if it's a day or a week....
The only thing I was disappointed in? Was the gift shop....first the Katniss cowl was a ripoff, it was 130.00 and it was not of good quality...but then again, if I did not knit and crochet, I probably would not know this....I did get an exhibition t-shirt and a new lanyard for school and this Katniss keychain
There were no Mockinjay pins! Can you believe that? The whole thing is based on that pin...they had it in a keychain..and I think there were magnets....I either wanted a pin or earrings...the only earrings they had available were little arrows and they were not the best quality...they had some other cool pins, but I was so disappointed in not getting a Mockinjay pin....
Was it worth it? Definitely, if you are a fan...there was tons and tons to read...I didn't read them all...and more things I did not take pictures of............I spent about an hour and a half in it....
I think it is in NYC until January and then it moves to the West Coast....
Have you seen the new trailers?
I don't remember the hugging Peeta scene or the scene were she walks into the Capital that way, but I'm still very excited for this!!!!!
