Although I have had many members of my family serve in the military, I have been lucky, as they all have made it home alive...let's remember those that gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Year in Progress: Week 22
The only project I have worked on is Fortune's Shawlette. It is a crocheted shawl that I really like. I have been looking for a crochet shawl pattern that was different than the regular shell type ones that you normally see...
It's still a double crochet, but kind of on a bias, which gives it a different look. I think the yarn is a Plymouth Yarn, I seemed to have lost the band. Well I'm sure I still have it somewhere.
But since it's been so hot and humid this week and our a/c is not in yet, I really haven't done too much...it's just too sticky to be working with wool...may have to wind some of my cotton up to work with...I adore Manos del Uruguay Cotton Stria, which they stopped making, so I hoarded it whenever I found it!
I also have some other cotton yarn, which is similar
So we'll see....
I'm heading to the Massachusetts Sheep and Wool today...not expecting to buy much (hahaha), because I seriously have been on a splurge...but I'm sure I'll find something I love....
this was my Friday...
Field Day at school...I was so exhausted I slept almost 12 hours....luckily it wasn't too humid that day...just a bit...

Rhode Island Fiber Festival and Craft Fair
On Saturday we headed to the Rhode Island Fiber and Craft Fair in Bristol, Rhode Island...I's a little over a 2 hour drive, but we enjoy Rhode Island and go often on the weekends....
The fair has grown a bit since we first went (I can't seem to find a blog post about it, but it was about 4 or 5 years ago)
It's held at Coggeshall Farm, which is a history museum....
The walk up from the parking field (it was a field with grass as high as my knee) is very pretty...I got a lesson from my resident tree man about the maple and sycamore trees...
Here he is....the tree guy...
There are a couple of buildings on the property, including this one...
The website says that "the farm recreates the daily lives of tenant farmers on a salt marsh farm." The setting is pretty stunning...
I didn't take a lot of pictures, so here are some random ones...
My favorite sycamore
And the damage....
Some Play at Life (she has Supernatural inspired yarns), and Dirty Water Dyeworks (see that gold one? It's got yak and silk!)...two, new to me indie dyers...Molly Girl and Tails&Snouts....a bag from June Pryce and lotion from Sweet Sheep Shoppe, which is Alicia, who blogs at Woolen Divisions. She has joined in to the link up a few times....I met her briefly at another Rhode Island event last year, but this was the first event where she was vending....I got a hug and to see the baby bump...darn, wish I'd gotten a picture....
It was good day, but it's a very long drive for only a handful of vendors, not sure I'll go again....

Year of Projects: Week 21
Hello! Not much has changed from last week....it was a very busy and exhausting week at school, so I came home and took naps most of the time...I didn't take any pictures of the restaurant, but here it is...
Our second graders were the waiters/waitresses...they also were the cashiers (with help), the managers, the hosts....they also did much of the preparing and cooking of the food with adult help...You can see in the background some of the artwork and classwork put up....the theme was Book Cook Cafe and we have been reading books that have cooking/food in them for a couple of months and doing academic activities based on the books...we also drew maps and did country reports...so needless to say, I am exhausted! I was the door greeter. I greeted the people as they came in and assigned a student greeter to take them to the restaurant....on my feet straight for almost 6 hours...
Not much happened when I got home.....but on Saturday I did go to the Rhode Island Sheep and Wool....I will post about that tomorrow....and I'll need to post another Stash Acquisition Saturday.....Massachusetts Sheep and Wool is next weekend.....
So my list has not changed much...I added a couple stitches to a couple rows of things...that's about it...

Stitch Along Wednesday: Week 20
Good evening/morning/afternoon my peeps!
I have every intention of coming home after school and knitting or crocheting....instead...I do this...
It's four weeks till the end of the school year.....and we are doing a big project....our kids are running a restaurant on Friday...yep, they are cooking/baking....they are the waitstaff, hosts, managers, etc....so we have a lot going on and it's a lot of structured, but at the same time, unstructured time....and I have several boys who can't quite handle that....and I'm exhausted....I have things to grade...bags of things to grade...and I just can't bring myself to do any of it....plus I'm a natural procrastinator........grrr......
So how has your projects been this week? If you want to see what I have been working on, there are pics on Sunday's post...
See you again next week....

Year of Projects: Week 20
Wow! Five weeks! I haven't done an update since week 15....wow.....
So during that time, I was mojoless, at times....I was also sick....but that has been resolved...so here we go....
No new completed projects...that's not much of a surprise, but I have worked on several things...I'm not going to post any new pictures of the sock projects, as they really don't look much different...

Somewhere along the way, I did start a new crochet project....not sure when, sometime in April..
So my pattern history page tells me I looked the pattern up on April 5, so I'll go with that...It is called Fortune's Shawlette and it is crocheted. I'm using some speckle yarn that I have been holding onto for awhile....
I started a Reyna, using some Star Wars inspired yarn....Nerd Girl Artoo
This project has been ripped back to the beginning already and restarted...this is where I am as of yesterday...I dropped a stitch and I couldn't pick it back up because of the pattern, and I lost another stitch, so I just ripped it all back...you can see those pictures in my Instagram feed...

Stash Acquisition Saturday
So I went to the Connecticut Sheep and Wool two Saturdays ago...and I hadn't posted about it yet...it was the first time Hubs has gone with me....but he has gone to others....
This was what I acquired....the annual shirt....a dragon bag from Jessalu (I always have to narrow it down)...I got a wedge bag this time around....
The pattern is Ripped Curl Shawlette by Alex Tinsley. It is a kit with the yarn in shades of purple. I have several of her designs...Also got a Lillian Gradient bundle in greys and black, called Iron. Stephanie had to search for it for me, because the person in front of me grabbed the last one...Her booth, Dirty Water Dyeworks, always has such great inspiration...this basket of gradients was a big draw and I got very annoyed with the group in front of me...only one person was looking, but they all stood there, so I couldn't get in.....
And finally from her, I bought a skein of Paula in a deep, deep red called Sangria....I have been hankering to work in a deep red.....
Then I bought two skeins from a new to me vendor, FiberStash Dyeworks....the gold, which I'm going to use to border my Irish Oak shawl....and some Tweedy Toes sock yarn in Bushel...
Then, oh my, have I received some yarny mail....and I have more coming...can't stop! It makes me happy! Massachusetts Sheep and Wool is the end of the month...I am NOT going to NH Sheep and Wool or the WEBS thing today.....but am going to a Handmade in Connecticut expo...wonder if there will be yarn? I bet there will! On to the yarny mail, in no particular order...
Simply Socks Yarn Company got some Hedgehog Fibers in and did a duo sale...oh my IN LOVE!!! I also bought a skein of Monarch, which is a bit more peachy than I thought it would be...I don't tend to do peach colors...
Got a surprise from MadColor
This is Can't Stop the Signal from the Joss is Boss club, which I thought I'd decided not to do, but low and behold it showed up...I'm okay with that....still getting the BA Female club too...this month was Michonne inspired...
I really liked this blue when it popped up in my feed...I'm not drawn to blues....and, of course, I had to try out her self stripe yarn...This is djfleesh Handknits..a new to me dyer....
Some Wooly Wonka Elphaba..this is 50% silk/50% SW BFL...just feels so silky...will not be socks...
The brights of this color got me....Daisy, Daisy by Little Heart Yarns, it's a self stripe
Then I bought a kit from Simply Sock Yarn, their house yarn Poste
It's Jane Austen inspired....Netherfield...I think the yarn self stripes....I'm not sure about the bag...the handles seem too far apart for me....
Then I received my Random Fandom from Nerd Girl
It's also Michonne inspired......funny that I got two Michonne ones in a month...that happened once before with a Monter's Inc colorway....
And finally, a dear friend went to Ireland and found me some sweater yarn....so excited about this!
