Year of Projects: Year 6, Week 32, Oops, Week 33

August 11:
Hiya!  I skipped a week.  I was in NYC last Saturday for a friend's play, called Humanity's Child.  I did not get home until after midnight and I had no energy on Sunday.....

I have a finish!  I finished Lucy's Elephant Reserve sweater!  This is the second time I've knitted this sweater.  I started this sweater, but had to rip it out and start with the next size, as it took me too long to do it...

It is made with Malabrigo Rios, which I do love.....

I also participated in Sock Week for Shark Week...I used Malia Mayed It's Shark in the Water, a self stripe yarn...
I did finish one sock between Sunday and Friday and cast on the second sock on Friday...I am now on the foot....It's Vanilla Latte with a Fish Lips Kiss Heel...I worked on the second one on the bus ride to NYC on Saturday (longest bus ride ever!!! because of traffic, driver went around to New Jersey and through the Lincoln Tunnel, which is also packed with traffic)  We should have been there by 3, we didn't get there until 4:00....sheesh! Oh and had to rip it all out, because I just kept continuing the ribbing instead of starting the pattern....

So not sure if you have heard of this movement online called #support_a_teacher #clearthelists  Search for the hashtag and maybe order something for a teacher in your town....if you don't have one, I'm going to leave the link to my list, if you want to take a look.  I have a ton of books on the list, as I'm trying to update my classroom library.  I also have some different seat choices for them...

August 18:
So I started this last week, but as I've mentioned, the wifi sucks at the Homestead and the pictures took all day to download.....so I've taken to using my camera again, instead of my iphone, since I save them to a card and just transfer them.

So in the past week, I have worked on LOTS of things!  And I did finish those shark socks!! Fastest socks I've ever finished.
I cast on some new socks, of course!  I had seen the Fibre Punk Merfolk on someone's Instagram feed and promptly ordered it.  Which is weird as they are not colors I normally would be drawn to...
Then I picked up my Halloween socks.  I love this colorway so much!  It's called Monster Mash by Knitmona...I don't believe she is dying any longer...the speckles are unreal!
It's hard to see because the black is dominant, but I love it so much.  I am trying the Blueberry Waffle pattern for the first time....we'll see if they end up too big.....But I'm loving it so far....lime heels will be added to these.....

I've also been putting some time into finishing the second socks of my two Christmas socks.....

I also worked a bit on my Venetian Cowl.....I really, really love this yarn....It's Madtosh Magnolia Leaf.. It's worked on a small hook and the pattern is slow going....but I'd like to finish it for this fall.
I also cast on and am almost finished with my Loopy Mango Mixed Pompom Hat.  It is made with their Merino Worsed, so soft, but loosely plied.....I should be done with it today,
I also cast on a sample knit.   So a self-stripe dyer put out a call for sample knits of her yarn.  SO for sample knitting a 6"inch tube, I get to keep the rest of the skein (full size) plus she threw in a mini skein to make up for the missing inches!  I received two colors...you could ask for the ones you wanted...I asked for unusual to me colors...there's pink...a good deal of it!  But I was drawn to them...so I received the yarn yesterday and am almost done with the first sample....

I think that is all...next Sunday is my last day of summer break...sigh....

Oh my goodness - what a cute little sweater! Just adorable. Oooh, and the Shark socks are pretty too. And lime colored heals will look great with that Monster Mash yarn color in the new socks. I hope you have a great week coming up!

Enjoy your last week of summer break. As a retired teacher I know all too well what support teachers need and how much of their own equity they put into classroom supplies. Those halloween socks are gonna rock!

I really like the shark socks, my taste in colours has been expanding into those shades recently. I zoomed in on the monster mash yarn and what fun! With the bright heels, cuffs and perhaps toes it should mute the black and bring out those bright shades. My next pair of socks will be a Christmas pair I think, now I know there’s a few working on them already.

Dang lady. Your needles have been smoking the past couple of weeks. Those socks knit up supe fast! Congrats on that. Too bad you had to rip out the bus progress knit. The halloween socks are certainly interesting. Will enjoy looking at those when they are completed.

So many lovely live things on your needles to work on! I have only one sock/maybe a fingerless on the needles now.

I may have a book or two for you. Let me look on my shelves tomorrow.
