WIP Wednesday

Late posting today, but it has been awhile since I did a WIP post...It is after 10 at night here and I just took a picture, forgive the quality...

I am reading Pride and Prejudice on the nook.....I don't think I've ever read the entire story....I skipped through it....unlike Persuasion, which I love and read fairly quickly...

I am also working on a pair of fingerless mitts for my niece.  She picked out this yarn on our trip last summer...It is the Starry Starry Night/Vincent Van Gogh colorway from Opal.  I've used Opal yarns before, but this ball has had some difficulties....I don't know what has happened, but I've had 3 breaks already in the yarn....It's frustrating....

The pattern is Cold Blooded Fingerless Gloves.  I've had to adjust it quite a bit, as my niece is super skinny and her arms are really skinny....I think she'll like them though....I do....

I also have some finishes for Friday...tomorrow night is night parent conferences, so I won't get home until late.....I'm tired already...

Since it's so late, I'm not going to bother to link this week...hope you all have a great day tomorrow...

Election Day in the USA

Where I live we do not have early voting, but I was able to get in and out in no time....it is absolutely crazy lines in some parts of the country....

I was an independent until the 2008 elections.  In my state, you must be affiliated with a party in order to vote in the primaries....so I registered Democrat....the Hubs, he's Republican....I'm a screaming liberal....and I fear for this country if the Republicans end up in the White House...it's not just the twit that is running, but all the tea-lunatics that also would have some power....because he has not stood up to his party on anything or stood firm on issues....and he has no concept of what it is to struggle....

I am an independent, educated woman who should be in control of my life choices, not some white guys in Congress or my employer....

I believe that if people love each other, they should be able to commit to that relationship in a legal way...no matter what their gender....

I believe that I should be paid the same as a man, if I am doing the same job and doing it as well....and I should be promoted equally...

I believe that rape is rape...and it is a crime and not God's will....

I believe that immigrants should be assumed innocent of any crime, regardless of their skin color, unless it is proven that they have done something illegal....we are all descendants of immigrants who came here for a better life....

I believe religion has NO place in politics, and I don't even care if my president believes in God....there is suppose to be separation of Church and State in our country....and just because you believe something....does not mean you have the right to mandate that I believe the same thing...we fought a war to earn our freedom from such tyranny....

I believe that religion is an individual choice, and noone's beliefs or God should take precedence over someone's else's beliefs or God....

I may make some people angry by these statements, but this is who I am.....I don't make politics an issue on this blog (but you should see my Facebook feed!)  And I felt it was high time to just state who I am and what I believe...

New England Fiber Festival 2012

This is an up and coming fiber festival...and really the last one in these parts of the season....

heading in....I drove up by myself, but planned on meeting up with some people...

You first walk into a large room where the animal vendors are....I stopped by my local alpaca farm to chat with Karen....here is one of her beautiful boys...

At noon I met up with some people at Mad Color's booth.  Laura, I have known for a couple of years (and recently went on the Boston Yarn Crawl with her)  The other two are Nerd Warriors that I met for the first time!  Yeah Nerd Wars!

Yes I am wearing my loud obnoxious granny square tunic....and can you see Wilkey peeking out from my bag?

I also met up with Amy again, but we did not get a picture....

This is Play At Life, another Nerd Warrior!!!!!  She had a booth there too....

Just some random shots of the day...I did not take a ton of pictures...

Wilkey wanted to hang out with the Moose...I said no...
W

And what did I come home with?  I was really good!  I had ordered some yarn from Mad Color, so I picked that up, along with a contrasting color.  I got an alpaca yarn bowl, a couple of small braids of fiber for my swap partner, a couple of buttons, a new monkey bag from Jesslu and some spindles for decoration...

And thus ends my fiber festival season this year!

Word Verification - We Are Not Robots!

I hate word verification!  Please check your blog and consider removing word verification if you have it....especially for those of us who also monitor our comments...you don't need it...

And Blogger has a good spam filter and it has gotten better, and they don't even recommend word verification any longer.....I have left blogs without commenting over frustration with word verification....please, please consider turning it off!

Please check out some other posts on this, here, here and here.  If you're not sure how to turn it off, go here

I am off to pet some yarnz.....

Friday Finishes...and some yarn!

I actually have some finishes!  I have not done much crafting this month due to the tendonitis, which the doctor said would take awhile to heal....so I just have to take it easy sometimes....

My Anne Teldy scarf.  Maj. Teldy was a character in Stargate Atlantis.  She was named after a regular visitor to Joseph Mallozzi's blog.  She won a contest on the blog to have a character named after her.  I enjoyed my interactions with her.  Anne Teldy was not her actual name, it was Kelly Hurt....and she was fighting a daily battle of her own.  Unfortunately she lost that battle earlier this year...so I made this scarf in memory of her.

Rowan cowl, made with Rowan Colourspun, which I heart very much!

Austen-inspired hat....made with Zealana Rimu yarn...I still have another skein, so I see some fingerless gloves...

Hah!  and I have some new yarnz!
Random Fandom:  "If your gonna build a time machine into a car, why not do it with some style?"  How cool!  DeLorean yarn!!!  It came with a mini skateboard, very awesome!

And the new Mad Color Mad Geek Tour continues..the next three months are Firefly based..and to kick it off...

Serenity Valley - "Once you've been in Serenity, you never leave.  You just learn to live there."  Zoe Washburne....Love!!!!!!

And tomorrow I head to my last fiber festival of the summer....hmm wonder what I'll come home with???  I'd love to get one of those SOAK kits I saw after Rhinebeck... And I have pre-ordered some yarn to pick up tomorrow...

I'm gonna connect up late to...Wisdom Begins in Wonder, Natural Suburbia and Tami
