Year of Projects: Week 20

Wow!   Five weeks!  I haven't done an update since week 15....wow.....

So during that time, I was mojoless, at times....I was also sick....but that has been resolved...so here we go....

No new completed projects...that's not much of a surprise, but I have worked on several things...I'm not going to post any new pictures of the sock projects, as they really don't look much different...

Somewhere along the way, I did start a new crochet project....not sure when, sometime in April..
So my pattern history page tells me I looked the pattern up on April 5, so I'll go with that...It is called Fortune's Shawlette and it is crocheted. I'm using some speckle yarn that I have been holding onto for awhile....
I started a Reyna, using some Star Wars inspired yarn....Nerd Girl Artoo
This project has been ripped back to the beginning already and restarted...this is where I am as of yesterday...I dropped a stitch and I couldn't pick it back up because of the pattern, and I lost another stitch, so I just ripped it all back...you can see those pictures in my Instagram feed...

Stash Acquisition Saturday

So I went to the Connecticut Sheep and Wool two Saturdays ago...and I hadn't posted about it yet...it was the first time Hubs has gone with me....but he has gone to others....

This was what I acquired....the annual shirt....a dragon bag from Jessalu (I always have to narrow it down)...I got a wedge bag this time around....

The pattern is Ripped Curl Shawlette by Alex Tinsley. It is a kit with the yarn in shades of purple. I have several of her designs...Also got a  Lillian Gradient bundle in greys and black, called Iron.  Stephanie had to search for it for me, because the person in front of me grabbed the last one...Her booth, Dirty Water Dyeworks, always has such great inspiration...this basket of gradients was a big draw and I got very annoyed with the group in front of me...only one person was looking, but they all stood there, so I couldn't get in.....
And finally from her, I bought a skein of Paula in a deep, deep red called Sangria....I have been hankering to work in a deep red.....

Then I bought two skeins from a new to me vendor, FiberStash Dyeworks....the gold, which I'm going to use to border my Irish Oak shawl....and some Tweedy Toes sock yarn in Bushel...

Then, oh my, have I received some yarny mail....and I have more coming...can't stop!  It makes me happy!  Massachusetts Sheep and Wool is the end of the month...I am NOT going to NH Sheep and Wool or the WEBS thing today.....but am going to a Handmade in Connecticut expo...wonder if there will be yarn?  I bet there will!  On to the yarny mail, in no particular order...

Simply Socks Yarn Company got some Hedgehog Fibers in and did a duo sale...oh my IN LOVE!!!  I also bought a skein of Monarch, which is a bit more peachy than I thought it would be...I don't tend to do peach colors...

Got a surprise from MadColor

This is Can't Stop the Signal from the Joss is Boss club, which I thought I'd decided not to do, but low and behold it showed up...I'm okay with that....still getting the BA Female club too...this month was Michonne inspired...
I really liked this blue when it popped up in my feed...I'm not drawn to blues....and, of course, I had to try out her self stripe yarn...This is djfleesh Handknits..a new to me dyer....
Some Wooly Wonka Elphaba..this is 50% silk/50% SW BFL...just feels so silky...will not be socks...
The brights of this color got me....Daisy, Daisy by Little Heart Yarns, it's a self stripe
Then I bought a kit from Simply Sock Yarn, their house yarn Poste

It's Jane Austen inspired....Netherfield...I think the yarn self stripes....I'm not sure about the bag...the handles seem too far apart for me....

Then I received my Random Fandom from Nerd Girl
It's also Michonne inspired......funny that I got two Michonne ones in a month...that happened once before with a Monter's Inc colorway....

And finally, a dear friend went to Ireland and found me some sweater yarn....so excited about this!
Do you have some Stash to update, wanna see what other people have?  Join up...

Stitch Along Wednesday - Week 19

I said to the Hubs...It's Tuesday night...and he says, Nope, it's Wednesday...he gets it now....

So hello out there in blog land....how are you?  I am counting down to the end of the school year...well not really...I don't officially start counting until June starts...our last day is June 15...only two snow days this year.....and there is so much to do between now and then....but the kids are feeling it already....today we had the excitement of a house centipede visit....we then had an entomology lesson.....

Yes, I have been knitting....no crocheting, but have been plugging away at a few knit projects....

Willow Fields is on the decreases....I have 53 repeats to do and I've done 7...so it's going to be a bit...although the rows do get shorter...no new picture as it looks the same....

My Reyna has been started....with Artoo yarn....
And my Irish Oak...I finally ripped back the border today...and reknit two rows....so now I'm going to add this yellow border....
I think it's a good match.....

I'm itching to get a shawl completed, because I have so many others to cast on....*sigh*.....think I want a few Age of Brass and Steam or Boneyards, because I tend to wear those two the most....

I went stash diving the other day and look at the pretties I uncovered....now mind you, I do need to do a new Stash Acquisition post....but look at what I can find in the stash....
From Left: Colinette Jitterbug in Ginger Cinnabar, Mountain Colors in Spring Eclipse, Colinette Jitterbug in Mardi Gras and Madelintosh Twist Light in a special limited color CARE. YUM!

As always please link back...and thank you for joining in....

May the Fourth!!!!!

I wasn't really aware of this day until a couple of years ago....

I was introduced to Star Wars via my Dad....My dad loved Star Wars and saw the first movie over 20 times when it first came out....I was 9.   Although we had some patchy times, we always had a love of sci-fi.  He took me to my first sci-fi convention...a Star Trek one when I was a kid....

He paid for me to fly out to Ohio, where he was living at the time, so we could go see The Phantom Menace together....

This is my last birthday card from him....it is not quite working any longer...

And I have been inspired to make several Star Wars things over the years...
an Ewok for a swap partner..
a Yoda hat for a friend's daughter
and recently for my classroom...a yoda...that I don't seem to have a picture handy...

So Star Wars has been an important part of my life....as well as a freaking good bunch of movies (not so much the prequels, don't even think I saw the last one)....but loved...The Force Awakens...

So for all of you out there....May the Fourth be with you.....and listen to Master Yoda

Stitch Along Wednesday - Week 18

Good evening/morning!!!!!  I have been home all day today...nasty cough and irritated throat since Sunday...seems to be subsiding....tomorrow I have PD all day, so I won't actually be teaching, so the talking will be minimum which is good!...

So onto the projects....

I did start my Raspberry Beret....I am a little farther than this picture, having finished the brim...
I also turned a heel on a sock...
I started my Live Long and Prosper socks in April...and finally got to the gold stripe...
The blue is really off in this picture...this is better...although blurry
Since tomorrow is May the Fourth...I also started a Reyna with my Nerd Girl Artoo yarn...
So, maybe that mojo is coming back???  How about you?

Please link back, thanks!!!

Teacher Appeciation Week

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week here in the States...I know I'm biased, but just getting a thank you, we appreciate what you do, is pretty awesome...

I'd like to thank Mr.Leduc, my fourth grade teacher - my first male teacher and a great role model as a teacher..

Mrs. DiMeo, one of my high school teachers....I had her for several subjects and enjoyed every single one of her classes....

also, this is terrible, but I don't remember her name...the teacher who took me for special help in reading when I was in second grade...I was a non-reader before that and a whole world opened to me....I have my Master's in reading and it is my favorite subject to teach...

Thank you to all of my teachers....
