Year of Projects: Week 4

2018 Finished Projects:
Millennial Slytherin Mitts - Jan 6, 2018
KG AMi - Jan 10, 2018
Shamrock Hat - Jan 20, 2018
Snowflake Hat - Jan 20, 2018

So I worked on some baby hats.  I am making several for the daughter of a work colleague.  Her daughter worked in our school as a substitute for awhile and she and I became friendly. So I've now made her three hats..her mom had the idea of a calendar of hats, which I thought was cool!

I am still working on the Jessica Jones cowl and I also picked up the Elephant Reserve sweater again....

I have been dealing with several medical issues and I realized last week that I was also suffering from some anxiety and depression...since one of the issues is peri-menopause, which can cause anxiety and depression..along with the auto-immune disease I have..it was a double whammy....but funnily enough, after giving voice to it and talking to a couple of people, I feel so much better...I feel lighter and just relieved...but I will keep track, now I am more aware.....

As I said on Saturday's post, I have given up all of my yarn clubs....but today, gave in and ordered some self-stripe I saw...I think I may do a self stripe post...or maybe a video blog about them....we'll see....

Works In Progress:
WIPS: Crochet:
Round Ripple: (Started 2006 (?) Aiden)-not sure he'd want this anymore, being a high school freshman and all, but I think I'll finish it for him. He is now a sophomore.
Around the World Afghan: (April 2010): about ¼ done - I looked at this recently and I'm still liking it, so I'll keep it...maybe make it a baby blanket instead.
Sunrise Sunset Afghan: this has been hibernating awhile, 6 squares done. I still love the look of this.
Tabard Tunic (NW Diss 2/1/14) - Haven't made a final decision on this yet.
Throwback Poncho 2/19/17
Fortune's Shawlette - 5/20/17 - Finished ball 2

Knit:
Learn to Knit Afghan: (started 2010): 3 squares done, I put this in the giveaway yarn bags..not thrilled with colors....will use squares at school for water bottles..
Shark in the Woods (11/27/14)- I really love this, but it's a lot of cabling and I'm not a fan..about 1/2 done.
Vanilla fingerless mitts (12/25/15) - Think I'm going to frog and do different mitts or crochet them.
Zombie Vixen mitts (10/17/15)- why I may crochet the others...have these and still working on them, again cabling
Garter Path Shawlette (5/30/16)- I have frogged this a couple of times...
Swinging with Winkle (6/4/16)- I love this so much!  Just need to finish it! Added a few rows
Meandering Top (5/20/16) - Totally forgot about this...could get it done to wear in spring...I think I was debating whether to do the bottom ruffle...it's not a good placement for me...

Multnomah (8/21/16)- stuck on feather and fan edging, have too many stitches, in timeout. Stitch count continues to be off.
Bulky Cowl - this hurts my hands to work on...think I need slippery needles...
Splediferous Blanket - (4/15/17) Roald Dahl club, mitered blanket
Blue Wave - 1/15/18

Socks:
Kai-Mei: (April 2012) - has not changed,
Carlos and Arne socks (July 3 2015)- using a 9" needle...keep losing stitches.

Espalier Socks (Jan 10, 2016) - started and stopped...Folding Chairs - (2/17/17) - Her Story plain vanilla
Zombie Latte Socks - (6/27/17) - need some zombie socks come Walking Dead premiere!
Just Keep Swimming - (6/16/16)
Hudson Bay Socks - (6/21/17)

Muertos - 8/13/17
Twas the Night - 12/24/17

Scarves/Shawls:
Splashy Flowers: (May 2011) - add a motif scarf, don't see that being finished soon...
Light in Shadows (1/14/14) - I love this so much...need to start the new direction, so need to sit down and figure it out..

Willow Fields (9/6/14) - ran out of yarn, waiting on yarn
My Shelly Valentine (2/10/16) - should finish for this year's Valentine's Day, yeah, that did not happen
Sea Glass (4/13/17) - a Zauberball shawl

Bags:

Beach Bag: (started May 2010)  Just needs lining sewn in, I used it this year without the lining...so may just call it a day on this....

 KAL/CALs:

Fire and Blood (5/4/14) - not anytime soon
Outlander MKAL (8/8/14)  - possibility of finishing this..the yarn is so yummy

Wow, you finished so many things already this year! As for your medical issues, I spent 9 months in therapy last year, and it really helps to be open about it. I've found that most people were much more understanding than I had expected. I hope that's true for you too. Take care!

When I went through menopause is when I got my autoimmune diseases....I think some of these issues/diseases lie dormant until menopause. I've had friends that have gotten MS and other diseases right at that time....just a theory. I was also under a lot of stress at the time...so I started journaling as I had no one to talk to and that was the secret for me...I've been journaling for an hour each morning for more than 20 years now and it gets every day off to a great start and all the stresses (of which I have none anymore) are put on paper and not weighing on your mind. Glad you feel better and I hope it continues!
Great list and I too have a Multnomah in 'time out'! LOL! One of these days I will drag it out and start over.

A calendar of hats? Now that sounds intriguing - and fun for the wearer of the hats. I'm sorry you've not been feeling well, but it's good to read that you think you've put some pieces of the puzzle together. What a great reminder to all of us to be more self-aware. It's good to see you back!

I am glad you are talking about your anxiety and depression. It is so important. I have struggled for years and years, but with some excellent group therapy last summer I feel for the first time I have some good tools to work with it. You can pm me on ravelry anytime. On Rav I am Knitwisegamgee.

I used to joke with my doctor that I couldn't wait for menopause but she cautioned me to be careful what I wished for. Mother Nature, she said, protects fertile women. After menopause, you're own your own. Sounds challenging, doesn't it?! We all need to be more patient and understanding of ourselves, particularly as we age. Glad to hear you're feeling more in control and more positive!

Now, I need to take a better look at that list of socks!

It's so nice to have you back. I'm sorry you have had so much to deal with, hopefully by voicing your feelings and medication, things will start to look better now.
