Year of Projects: Year 6, Week 41

So, it's been a couple of weeks.  I had nothing to show for awhile, and also some personal stuff going on.....I finally have some projects...and the personal stuff is working itself out.....

The big news is I finished my poncho!!!!  I love it so much!  The inspiration was a poncho my mom wore back on her honeymoon in 1968.  I have a picture somewhere, but haven't been able to locate it.  Her's was a sage green, I'm sure acrylic.  My mom says she thinks my dad bought it in NYC for her.  Here is my version:
This first picture was taken at Rhinebeck on Saturday.
And a headless closer shot.  I really love it so much!  The cowl took over a year to make.  It's just tedious.  The rest of the poncho flew off the hook...
And I finished a hat made with Loopy Mango Worsted held two together.  I can't decide on the pompom
Supposedly I should have been able to make a baby hat also, but I'm running out of yarn.  Probably because I used some for the pompom.  I'm going to rip it out and make a smaller size.  I made the toddler size, but I'll do a newborn size instead....
I've also started two new pair of socks...one pair, I actually thought I'd get done for Rhinebeck...that did not happen....
Rhinebeck Rainbow from White Birch Fiber Arts.  Her show colorway last year.   Her booth was a weird set-up this year.  It was 4 tunnel like structures.  It was hard to maneuver.  I didn't shop her booth, as I'll see her in two weeks in Springfield.
I cast on this on October 1.  I'm joining in on Amy Florence's Christmas sock knitting....This yarn is Oink Pigment's Merry Knitmas.  It's billed as self-striping, but it seems to be striping one half green and one half red...we'll see if it stays that way...hmmm

This has taken all day to write, as pictures took awhile to upload..Until next week!

Gosh....your mom and I must be close in age. I too had "the poncho". Yours is very pretty. Love those colors. I am anxious to hear about Rhinebeck. I doubt I will ever make it there so will vicariously through others.

He poncho looks great, as does the hat with it in the first photo. As for the other hat I prefer the dark faux fur Pompom on it. I keep meaning to catch up on Mina’s vlogs (knitting expat) from Rhinebeck and then I like to watch Kristy Glass Knits to see everyone’s Rhinebeck sweaters. I’m doing Amy’s KAL too so that’s nice a fellow yopper is, I’m intrigued by the semi circle stripe.

Your poncho looks terrific. How great that your inspiration was one worn by your mother so long ago. Gives me hope that someday my sons will look back at pictures of us and think we we're cool. Even though we weren't I hope they imagine that we were. ;^)

I usually don’t care for ponchos, but yours looks great! The part that was so tedious for you really makes it special. Well done.
