Year of Projects: Year 7, Week 34

Oh Goodness!  I went a couple more weeks.....sheesh!  Honestly, most of the time, I don't even remember that it is Sunday!  This should change this week, as I go back to work tomorrow.

We start PD tomorrow and have been told that this week is virtual.. Students are suppose to start next Thursday - in-person/hybrid model.  So I know I'm at school M/T/Th/F, we don't know about W yet.  We know the students will all be doing virtual on Wednesdays, but we don't know yet, whether we are in school or at home.  Everything keeps changing.  We all expect to go fully remote at some point.  I think even the superintendent believes that....even when in school, we are "distance learning."  Kids will all be on computers and I'll be teaching from a computer at the front of the room.

I'm been having a tough time with sleeping...last night didn't get to sleep until almost 2:00am.  Lots of things going on and menopause is also contributing to the sleeplessness....I just hope I can sleep once we get back to school.....

Grrrrr!!!!  Just spent a bunch of time trying to figure out spacing on Blogger.  The new interface, they removed to option to change spacing!  I had weird spaces in my text....

So what have a I finished?  Well I FINALLY sewed the lining in my "Beach Bag."  It's not really big enough to be a beach bag.  It's more purse sized. (There is a picture with my fingers, so you can see the sizing.)  I had the lining hanging around the Homestead for awhile.  Friday, I found the bag tucked into another bag.  So I sat down after we got home and got my sewing on!  It was all handsewn, as I can't use the machine at the moment.  So sewed up the two sides of the lining and then sewed the lining into the bag.

Pattern: Jaunty Shells by Jean Leinhauser.  It was in one of those small pattern books from a craft store called Trendsetting Totes
Yarn:  Lily's Sugar n' Cream.

I also finished my shorty socks.  No real pattern.  Just cast on 56. made a short cuff and then continued on

Yarn: OnLine Supersocke in Emotion II

I started a Perfect Pockets Shawl for my friend.  She is fighting her second battle of cancer in two years.
I first saw this shawl on the Needles at the Ready podcast.  The yarn is Lion Brand Heartland.

I also joined an MKAL...I'm not good at them and am already two clues behind.  It's called The Sharon Show by Casapinka...pattern written by her cat, Sharon....It's just a lot of fun....

The yarn is Skinny Bugga by Sanguine Gryphon and Cephlapod (both no longer dying)

I've also been working on the crochet throw/blanket round ripple for my friend's son.  No picture of that this week. It takes an hour to crochet one row.

I also recently uploaded a new video, if you'd like to watch.  There is a giveaway. I also have a previous one about my sock wips, if you'd like to watch that one...Thank you!  And hopefully I'll see you next week.

I am so glad I am a retired teacher. My friend's who are going back to teach in September are all feeling the craziness as the government seems to be changing their protocols for back to school almost daily. I wish you luck.
That sucks about the sleeping thing. I remember that from my menopause days. So glad it is behind me. The lining for your bag is perfect!

Oh love the rainbow colors of your bag. By looking at my yarn stash I can see I'm addicted to rainbow yarns. From my post this week you can see that I've got a set of rainbow stitch marker holders!!

This school year is nuts! In our area, each school district gets to choose how they will teach. Most are doing virtual for a few weeks and then will reassess.

Your beach bag/purse is pretty and the lining is perfect for it. Your socks turned out very nice. I like the color of your MKAL.

Sleeping is so highly over rated lol. Menopause messes with so much of our lives. Between hot flashes and insomnia, it stinks.

How perfect that lining material goes with the beach bag, was that intentional, it works perfectly. I don’t envy you having to go into school, and wish you luck. I hope your sleep improves, I’ve got the joys of menopause to come in the nest few years I guess.

I think shorty socks are highly underrated! They are my absolute favorite sock length to knit.

I switched back to Classic Blogger because I couldn't get photos to work in the new interface. I really don't want to change, especially when it doesn't work (don't even get me started on Ravelry right now - even though I CAN use it).

I pray you will stay safe at school! My daughter was going to go back but her boys were staying home and doing distance learning. They are postponed for a while since they live in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and the derecho did real damage to the town and the schools too. Your "little" beach bag is darling and your lining fabric could not have been more perfect! Love the socks too! The yarns you are using in your MKAL are gorgeous! Those are your handspuns? Wow! Some tricks for sleeping are walking and/or exercise but out in nature is best and then reading before you turn out the light always relaxes me and I start dozing. Of course, at my age I can doze off at any time of day! LOL! Take care and stay safe!

Oh I hadn't heard that they were no longer dying at all. I mean I knew SG switched to VG and Cephalapod or what not and I guess I heard that VG closed but it didn't register that I now must hoard my Eidos. yes that is what happens when I can get no more-- I let it disintegrate instead of knitting with the precious.

I too suffer from Insomnia. I am reading this book called This is Your Brain on Food which I purchased because it has a chapter on insomnia. Well I am reading it through. I heard about it from a lace knitter I follow on Instagram. Did you know you can have learned insomnia {not from book but from sleep specialist}. I have trained myself to wake up in spurts. Darned meno.

Hope going back to school
Is ok. We go back Thursday and I’m very nervous. Sorry to hear about the sleepless nights. Amazon have some cooling mats for £7 you pop them in your pillow and they keep you very cool.

Beach bag looks great.
