Year of Projects: Year 7, Week 36

Y'all, I made shoes!!!!!  This was not a project that was on the list.

These are the Seaside Espadrilles.  The pattern was in Interweave Crochet Spring 2006 magazine,
The jute for the soles was very hard to work with, but they crocheted up quickly.  I just used Lily Sugar n' Cream for the uppers.  These are not for me, so are really big.  It was an interesting exercise, whether I make them again is a slight possibility.  Reading others project pages, they double soled to make them less floppy.  I'm not, as I don't want to pick up the jute again any time soon!

So that was my only finish.  I continue to plug away at several projects and am getting ready to start a Boxy by Joji Locatelli.  I'm going to join her Fall KAL.  I didn't even know about the KAL until the Grocery Girls mentioned it.  I had just bought yarn for Boxy, so figured, why not? The Grocery Girls are going to also have a Sweater KAl, so I can double dip....I may start a few other projects.

I have startitis....but school also starts this week....so probably not!

I think that is it today.....I will catch you all again next week.  I have to catch up on reading some blogs..

Joji's KAL seems to be quite popular with our YOP group. I love the look of the boxy sweater. What yarn will you be using for yours? Good luck on the new school year.

I love the boxy - I have 3! I shall be knitting socks this year for the fall KAL. Good luck on your return to school. We are determined to get all students back full time, no option of remote learning, we will see how we get on!

I can only imagine how rough jute must be to crochet with, but those sandals are sure fun looking. I hope you have a smooth return to school!

Those espadrilles are darling! I missed joining the Fall KAL by one day....not that I need to but some sweater knitting is calling me! Maybe I'll go check out the Grocery Gal's KAL. Stay safe and be well especially with school starting. I will be praying for all the teachers and staff and students going back!

I love the look of the body but that much knitting with fine yarn is beyond my willpower. I love the Grocery Girls and entered their Don’t sweat it KAL. Good luck with school, I hope it goes well and isn’t too stressful.

I think autocorrect changed boxy doh!

Well done on the shoes. I can imagine jute would be hard to work with. I know that the many times I have used hemp my poor hands get quite raw.

Cool shoes, I have a friend who made some jute baskets and her hands were shredded by the time she’d finished making them. I don’t think she’d pick up jute again. I’d need someone else to knit me a boxy.

Sandals. Who would have thought. Curious how they wear. I do love my socks but never though of sandals. Plus I don't know how to crochet. :)
