New Car

We have gotten a new car, traded in my Dodge Stratus. The car is a Mazda3 GT (Grand Tour) Neither one of us knew anything about Mazdas, never thought I'd own one. It is really nice. It was the dealer demo and had a little mileage on it. We got a pretty good deal and it is alot of car. It is fully loaded and drives like a dream. Larry says it looks like a big giant black cat sitting in our garage! Took it on a little trip to Woodbridge yesterday to check out a LYS the Yarn Barn. It's a nice store. There was alot of yarn and some good sales. I, of course didn't buy anything on sale, and forgot I had a 10% coupon, but oh well. I'm going to make a Bling Bag for the Chain Link dinner - maybe, if I have time....I also bought a Lantern Moon Rosewood hook and am in love with it! I love wooden hooks. The sparkly yarn is ArtYarn Mohair Splash and will be the Bling in my bag...It's 74% silk w/crystals and sequins and is gorgeous. It has a bit of purple in it....I also bought a Lantern Moon crocheted sweater keychain

My birthday is coming up and I have received some surprises in the mail. Last week, a friend in New Jersey sent me a nice package of supplies I can use in my classroom. Always appreciate that! Very sweet of her...Today I received an envelope from Down Under from another friend on the Sky. SHe sent me some Timtams (yummy Australian cookies) and three luscious skeins of yarn in a gorgeous colorway. I also received a birthday card from a friend across the pond in England. I am making a friendship ghan of 12" green/cream squares and I received a square from a friend in Maine. It has been a good mail week!

The Noah Ghan

This is called The Noah Ghan. The pattern was originally published in Crochet! May 2008. I changed it slightly adding a few animals. I used Red Heart Soft Yarn. It is for Danae's new baby granddaughter, Cindy.

So this is what I made my SSP on the swap at Snarky. This was my first successful doily and is called "Pretty Kitties Doily" by Judy Jagel. It was in Annie's Favorite Crochet, August 2005. I had attempted doilies in the past and it was never successful, but now I actually might make a few more... I also made her some placemats and coasters out of Bernat Handicrafter Cotton Country. The placemats were from Easy Stitch Placemats. I did change the border as it didn't look right with this yarn. The coasters I kinda winged. She seemed very happy with her gifts. There were several other things included in the package. I have not yet received my package from my swap partner.

This is a bag I finished for Keira, my teaching partner. She designed it. I always seem to be making her something over the summer, for the summer. Last year it was the bathing suit! It went pretty fast, except the shells. Those hurt to sew on! So I did them for two days.

This is a Piplup from Pokemon. I had promised Aiden I would make one, however I couldn't find a pattern. So I got a picture and created him from the picture. He came out pretty good, but I did get frustrated with it for quite awhile. I forgot to put the two little white circles on his belly, but I will do it next time I go over their house.

This is the baby Around the World blanket I made for Krista's baby girl. I used the pattern that Karen from the ville used for hers, but cut it down in size. It was made with TLC Essentials and Bernat Super Value in Neopolitan. I loved this yarn so much, that after I bought a few skeins I was sufing online. I found out that this color was discontinued, so I went back to the store and bought the rest of the skeins they had...Now I have several skeins of it!
