Stitch Along - Jan 23

So two of these projects are DONE!!!!!!!  I'll do a Friday Finish post, if I can get good pictures of the socks...So I'm down to 8 sock WIPs!!!!  And trying really hard not to cast on a new one....I'd like to finish two more before I cast on another, but I did bring one of my crates of self stripe sock to the Homestead.....(I have 3 self stripe crates)

I think I'm either going to work on my Beekeeper Cardigan or the Elephant sweater for my friend's daughter next...

but tonight I also decided to wind some more of the minis from the Knits4Comfort Advent shawl...
So how was your week?  I'm going to throw up the link this week if anyone wants to hook up and share their WIPs...

Stitch Along _First of the Year

Good early afternoon!  I am home today thanks to a PsA flareup...It started Monday night, I went to work yesterday and left half day and I'm letting myself continue to heal today.....it's been awhile since I've had one last this long....the weather has been really sucky for me, with all the rain.....and we do have some nasty weather coming in...I also have my infusion in about a week and a half...and usually around the 6 week mark, I start hurting more....

So I've been working on socks....My Dia de Muertos socks are almost done!  I have the FLK heel, foot and toe to finish on the second sock....but again, I stopped at the heel!
I had two stripes to add this morning before starting the heel.

My Time Traveler socks are also almost done...I am working on the second heel flap today...
I've got some things to say about the Felici yarn when I do my Finished post....

So that is what I have worked on so far this week.....so many socks, so little time...but I have been wearing them more this year than I have in the past...so need more and more!!!!

Year of Projects - Year 6, Week 2

This was my first full week back to school after the holiday break.  I was exhausted most days and asleep by seven each night......

so that means I really did not work on anything this week...a few rows here and there....but that is all.....I did make my first yarn purchase of the year....but I'm going to do a stash post on Saturday.
My current sock WIPs, except for Kai-Mei, as I couldn't find the bag.....So, yes, I do have an issue with self-stripe yarn....only one is not self-stripe, well the Kai-mei is also not self stripe....so this is part of my WIP 2019.....I will cast on more I'm sure....as I have an issue with stopping at the heels....I did start a heel on the Time Traveler socks...I elected to do a heel flap and it seems to be taking forever!  It's been so long since I did one...And two of them only have cuffs started......

I have been doing a lot of reading on Instagram the past couple of days around the issue of the knitting/crochet community and racism that rose from the Karen Templer blog post.  It has been very interesting and enlightening.  If you are on Instagram, it is worth your time to read some of the posts...@duckling.designs, @ladydyeyarns, @labienaimee, @su.knitter, @nappyknitter, @tina.say.knits...I have added many new people to my feed....

Year 6 of Projects: Week 1

I was planning on doing a new picture for this year, but I haven't gotten to it yet...so I uploaded a previous graphic from the group.  I stopped participating back in October due to all the personal stuff, but hope to have a better 2019.  I have actually worked on several things....so let's get started...

I've decided this is going to be the year of WIPs....I'm going to try and finish as many as possible....starting with that whole nine in 2019....
The first two are not WIPs, but I do have the yarn for them!  The Rainbow Party Cardi by Stephanie Lotven and Vintersol by Jennifer Steingass (not my pictures) Then I have my Kai-mei, this is my oldest sock WIP, started in 2012.  Then my Light in Shadows shawl in yarn I won from Zen Yarn Garden. Shark in Woods cowl, Meandering Top, Porch Winkle (Miss Winkle), Wonder Woman shawl and my Beekeeper Cardigan.

I did not place any crochet projects in the nine, but I have plenty of those too....several amigurami and my Throwback Poncho

Since my focus on the WIPs, I'm leaving my same list up...I do have a few baby things to make, so they will be added.....

LYS - Stars Hollow Yarn

I have been following Stars Hollow Yarn on Instagram for awhile.  I wasn't able to make it to their soft opening, but I was able to go the following Saturday, December 8th.  She is opening on Saturdays for several hours until she does a grand opening after the New Year....

I texted my husband: This is my kind of yarn shop! This could be dangerous!

The store is beautiful!  The building is gorgeous!  The owner and her mom were friendly, talkative and so excited that we were there....they made me a cup of tea!!!

I ran into Kris and her Mom...
So many lovelies!  Now that I'm living mostly at the inlaws....it is only about 30 minutes away...I will let the pictures do the talking...

She has lots of framed posters that you can also buy (unframed)

I really wanted this bag, but didn't get it...I may go back this Saturday to pick it up...
Up the stairs was a loft full of goodies....

And a neighbor's cat that likes to hang out in the store...
I picked up a couple of enamel pins...
My acquisitions!  I started the hat when I got home.  It's from a skein of Canon Hand Dyed exclusive Gilmore Girls themed yarn, called "You want to devil egg Jess' car?  I only used about half the skein...Although I bought a pom there, I ended up ordering one online from PDXpom, as I decided it needed a yellow pom....

The other skein of yarn is Round Mountain Fibers, dyed in Vermont, yarn is grown and spun in the US...It's called Jack in the Pulpit...I know it's crap picture...sorry...

She carries many indie makers: Leading Men Fiber Arts, Canon Hand Dyed, Wee Ones with shop exclusive Gilmore Girls inspired stitch markers: Paul Anka, a hamburger, a coffee and a snowman.

What a wonderful shop!  I will definitely be visiting again!!!

ETA: The hate with the yellow pom
and I did not go back this week to get the bag...:(

Stitch Along - Last One of the Year

Well I haven't done one in weeks and weeks (this may be long!).....I haven't finished anything...wait let me check Ravelry....oh, yes I did make two Vermonter hats.....one for a swap partner and another for me...but they are not on Ravelry....

I have worked on things though......some socks and a shawl.....

I bought a yarn advent calendar from a local dyer....it's been fabulous!!!! There are 24 miniskeins and one full skein, plus a pattern for a shawl.  I started the pattern, but it was wrong...

I emailed the designer and got some help...and now I'm on the third color....
The colors are all inspired by Christmas movies....I love it! I am on " Do You Want To Build a Snowman?"  The Hubs and I watched Frozen the other day, he had never seen it.

And the packaging was amazing!

And I've worked on some socks, of course!

Okay I have spent the better part of the day switching pictures over from phone....so I'm going to end it here...not as long as I'd thought it would be...I hope to get back to regular blogging......

Update

Hello my internet friends.....

So FIL has been home for about three weeks.....he is now on hospice care....it is just a waiting game.

We are living full-time at the Homestead.  Eventually we will move out here once everything is said and done.....but we keep bringing more and more of our stuff here.....but we need to clean out this house first...My sister-in-law lived here with her parents and she died suddenly about 5 years ago.  My MIL never cleaned out her room.  She did pack some things up, but we still have a couple of closets to pack....plus now we have to pack up MIL's things.....They lived here for 40 something years, so the house is full of stuff....there are three crawlspaces, that aren't actually crawlspaces, you can stand up in them...plus a cedar closet, plus regular closets.....it's just a full house....

This the garage and original house on the land.  The land belonged to my husband's great uncle Bill.  It's been in the family for about 100 years.  They owned a lot of land in this area.
The house, sorry its so dark, I was on a walk with the dog we have also inherited and took the picture at dusk....

FIL passed away this morning...now we have lots of decisions to make.
