Year of Projects - Week 9

Good morning!  I haven't finished anything this week and only worked on a few things...But I did start two new projects....I decided I needed a grey hat, so using the Woolfolk yarn I purchased in November, I cast on Bedrock by Stephen West....and coming home from school on Friday, i decided I needed some new green socks for Monday....so cast on a pair of vanilla socks with Zauberball...although I thought they'd be more stripey and they aren't...and they are really dark...so we'll see how they turn out...

Inside the sock is a nifty little tool called The Sock Ruler, no need to keep pulling the tape measure out...

I also worked a bit on my Far Side of the Moon socks...they look great, but the heel is a new construction called "Fork in the Road" and it needs a provisional cast-on (my first) and I did it, but I have all this extra yarn in between the stitches, so I don't quite get how to do it...I may just do a different heel and move on...I just bought the Fish Lips Kiss Heel pattern...and I also worked a bit on my Adele socks...again..I'm at the heel.....

I've only tried a provisional cast on once and didn't really get on with it - I'm a bit wary of them now! Like the idea of the sock ruler.

I hope to try toe-up socks someday......someday. Right now, I'm good on the cuff-down versions :)

The sock ruler looks very useful :) Liking the green.

Have you finished the green socks? I knitted a pair of socks with a red zaubeball, and they didn't turn out stipey at all.

Love the green yarn and I hope you end up liking it too....maybe after it's done? I only think of shawls when I hear Stephen West...I'll have to back and revisit his page. The sock ruler sounds great....why didn't I think of that? LOL!
I want to try that fish lips kiss heel too....add that to my "never-ending" list. Nice projects!

My first provisional cast on wasn't hugely successful, but if at first you don't succeed .... Seriously though, it's not a skill you can do without so carry on! I personally like the one where you use a crochet hook to cast on the stitches on your needle, but each to their own. Zauberballe is a slow gradient, so maybe you'll see it by the crown :)

One can never have too many green socks. Although based on the ball I'd also expect it to be more stripey, I do like the gradient effect you're getting with the Zauberball now.

Oh I do like the look of that green sock. Will be interesting to see how it 'develops' as you continue! I think I'd get totally lost/confused if I have so many socks on needles at the same time LOL

That ruler is so clever!! I really like the look of the green pair, it'll be interesting to see what the second one looks like.
