My New Normal
So fun fact....the medicine that I am on causes sun sensitivity....yeah...so along with the intermittent pain in all my joints and constant plantar fasciitis, I get this.....
On Monday, we had a fire drill.....outside in a shirt sleeved shirt for about 20-30 minutes.....rest of the day massive headache that would not go away and I hurt bad all day (I also had recess for about 10 minutes or so).......shrug it off.....
Tuesday...another fire drill, this one was real...the second grade set it off by making homemade rice crispy treats...outside for another 30 minutes (no recess that day)...really incredible headache for the rest of the day and nauseous, felt like I was on the verge of vomiting all day...light headed...almost passed out in the classroom (which I did do in the fall when I was brand new to this medication, plus on some other medication), along with a light rash.....
So decided to look up the two medications I am on...and yup, one of them (not the infusion one) can cause sun sensitivity....great...I have to go to a baseball game on Wednesday (it's a field trip)...so I went shopping....
I do not wear white, have very little of it in my wardrobe, I now have lots of it...plus a couple of light long sleeved shirts to throw on when heading outside, several bottles of sunscreen, one I will carry with me, one for my classroom, and one for home.....a new sun hat (I do have lots of hats, I love wearing them, but not usually wide brimmed ones) and a travel umbrella to carry in my bag at all times....
My friend Maureen said she won't recognize me! I tend toward bold and dark colors....but since white refracts the sun, I've now added a bunch of it to my wardrobe...I'll be looking into buying specialized clothing...but needed something for this week.....
If the infusion medication works, I'll eventually be weaned off the other (I think), but it won't be for awhile...so this is my new normal....good thing I was never a sun worshiper!

Round Ripple: (Started 2006 (?) Aiden)-not sure he'd want this anymore, being a high school freshman and all, but I think I'll finish it for him.
Around the World Afghan: (April 2010): about ¼ done - I looked at this recently and I'm still liking it, so I'll keep it...maybe make it a baby blanket instead.
Sunrise Sunset Afghan: this has been hibernating awhile, 6 squares done. I still love the look of this.
Tabard Tunic (NW Diss 2/1/14) - Haven't made a final decision on this yet.
Throwback Poncho 2/19/17
Knit:
Learn to Knit Afghan:
(started 2010): 3 squares done, I put this in the giveaway yarn
bags..not thrilled with colors....will use squares at school for water
bottles..
Shark in the Woods (11/27/14)- I really love this, but it's a lot of cabling and I'm not a fan..about 1/2 done.
Vanilla fingerless mitts (12/25/15) - Think I'm going to frog and do different mitts or crochet them.
Zombie Vixen mitts (10/17/15)- why I may crochet the others...have these and still working on them, again cabling
Garter Path Shawlette (5/30/16)- I have frogged this a couple of times...
Swinging with Winkle (6/4/16)- I love this so much! Just need to finish it!
Meandering Top (5/20/16) - Totally forgot about this...could get it done to wear in spring...I think I was debating whether to do the bottom ruffle...it's not a good placement for me...
Multnomah
(8/21/16)- hmm, love the pattern and color will match just about anything...
Warm Neck (8/2/16)- almost done...this was my go-to mindless project, so need to get back to it..
Bulky Cowl - this hurts my hands to work on...think I need slippery needles...
Slopes Sweater- (1/1/17)
Splediferous Blanket - (4/15/17) Roald Dahl club, mitered blanket
Socks:
Kai-Mei: (April 2012) - has not changed, did not take new picture
Carlos and Arne socks (July 3 2015)- using a 9" needle...keep losing stitches.
Espalier Socks (Jan 10, 2016) - started and stopped...
Spring is in the Air (2/16/16)- I love these, need to finish them!
Folding Chairs - (2/17/17) - Her Story plain vanilla
Scarves/Shawls:
Splashy Flowers: (May 2011) - add a motif scarf, don't see that being finished soon...
Light in Shadows (1/14/14) - I love this so much...need to start the new direction, so need to sit down and figure it out..
Willow Fields (9/6/14) - ran out of yarn, waiting on yarn
My Shelly Valentine (2/10/16) - should finish for this year's Valentine's Day, yeah, that did not happen
Sea Glass (4/13/17) - a Zauberball shawl
Bags:
Beach Bag: (started May 2010) Just needs lining sewn in, I used it this year without the lining...so may just call it a day on this....
KAL/CALs:
Fire and Blood (5/4/14) - not anytime soon
Outlander MKAL (8/8/14) - possibility of finishing this..the yarn is so yummy
So Ihave updated my list, adding three new projects.....the Splediferous Blanket...this was a Roald Dahl inspired six month yarn club from Handdyedby Kate and Motherof Purl....The Hubs had wanted a zigzag blanket, but I decided on mitered squares, which I'd never done...
This is the first square, Ms. Trunchbull's Newt, (which was our least favorite color...it doesn't pack as much of a punch as the others, but I'm liking it in the square) I'm just trying to decide if I want to do singular colored squares or mix them up...I had put colors together for two toned squares....also haven't decided on size..thinking maybe 10 inches...
I also added in my Folding Chairs socks, which I haven't worked on in a bit....the color is inspired by Shirley Chisolm, who said, "if they don't give you a seat at the table, bring your own folding chair!"
It's a crap photo....but love the colors in this and love the way it is pooling...
The last new one, Sea Glass, doesn't have much progress yet....
It was one of my three! Zauberball purchases last week!
If you want to see my other purchases...I did a massive Stash Acquisition post yesterday!
I also worked on my friend's pussyhat, almost done and my Multnomah Shawl, but it doesn't look much different yet....I think I may be missing something....but this is good for now....Have a great week and if you want to see what others are doing, please check the group out...

Stash Acquisition Saturday - Massive Update
Okay, first up...I dyed some sock blanks with my friend Maureen....I'm pretty sure they are all superwash, but beyond that..I don't know, she bought them....
I posted them on a Wednesday post, but hey they are stash too! Let's work backwards...recently received...
MadColor BAMF is River Tam, I never thought of River in pinks before, but I think it works
Nerd Girl Random Fandom in Swooping Evil, I understand it is from Fantastic Beasts, but haven't seen it yet...but love this colorway!
Knitted Wit's Her Story
Totem Pole inspired by Elizabeth Petratrovich of the Tlingit Nation and Aloha Dalire, a Hawaiian Hula master. The Hawaiian one looks a tad Christmas-y to me...and I just borrowed Moana from someone to watch for the first time....
I have gone a bit Zauberball crazy....
Ended up with some Malabrigo Rios from two different shops!
The last two skeins of the Splediferous Blanket Club by Mother of Purl and Handdyed by Kate
Danny's Austin Seven and The Peach
This is the completed club, I've wound them all and started a mitered blanket.
The Blue Brick...gosh, such pretty gradient yarns....
Blackcat Fibers Soursop
Queensland Collection United...a blend of lambswool and cotton
Debbie Bliss Cotton Denim DK
Knits4Comfort Sonic Screwdriver
Some Berocco Comfort DK for a baby gift...
A green gradient kit from Sweet Georgia Yarns
I added another Top This hat...just have to make them now! I have the dog, the giraffe, the sheep, the bear and now the monkey
Whew! I'm exhausted, may need to take a nap...considering I have two TWO fiber events next weekend...we'll see if I can top this list!!!!!!!!! I'll throw the link up, if anyone wants to add theirs, although I know it is late....

Stitch Along: Week 15
Good Tuesday evening my peeps! So this week, I have put some stitches on a few things.....And started two new things....I had a bit of a Zauberball obsession and bought three!!!! new ones this week!
So this is becoming Sea Glass
And this is the start of my Roald Dahl inspired Splendifourous Blanket...which will be mitered squares, my first....this color is Ms. Trunchbull's Newt....
A few rows here and there on some socks and my friend's pussyhat....
Back at school, was not a good day yesterday...we had a fire drill and after that I was in a horrible amount of pain for the rest of the day...like on the verge of tears....but there were a lot of people out, so I didn't feel as if I could leave....came home and went to bed......today...massive earache! But body pain has subsided.....
How about you? And why didn't anyone point out the horrible typos in last week's title? Sheesh!

Year of Projects: Week 5/14/15
Well geesh...I skipped two weeks.........just a lazy, lazy bum and didn't want to get on the computer.....ETA: it is now Week 14, so I skipped MANY weeks! And now another week has passed!
Wow this weekend was one for crazeeeeee dreams! And not sleeping well....
Have I crafted...yes, a bit here and there....but having a bit of ADD about my projects....I'll pick one up...knit/crochet a few rows and then switch it out for something new....maybe I just need a palette cleanser and need to start something new.....Will be picking up yarn today for a new something...so maybe that....
So let's start from here....week 14: I spent many weeks not crafting, between the pain...and report cards.....this week report card grades were due and I also caught a stomach virus! UGH! If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I am on a new medication: Simphoni Aria, which is a biologic, so I have had two infusions so far....the first caused severe swelling and my hand was bruised for over a week...so no crafting happened then...the second went much better....I get the next in May...overall, I feel better, but I still have days of pain, especially in bad weather....it could take several months before it works to it's potential....we'll see
I am still having some ADD about projects...so my crafting mojo has come and gone, come back a little bit....I don't "really want to" (said in a very WHINY voice) work on any of my projects...but I also know, they are OUT of CONTROL at the moment! I have decided I WILL NOT (Scout's Honor - yes I was a Scout) join any KAL/CAL this year.....but man that Find Your Fade has kind of been calling...but I KNOW it'll take me Y.E.A.R.S to finish that!!!!!!!
So let's see some of the things I have done! I haven't finished a thing since February!
ETA: Well that's no longer true, as this was my vacation week, I finished a few projects...you cna check them out at this post...if you are inclined....

Wrapup Friday
So even with my project ennui....I finished some things....

My Live Long and Prosper socks form TurtlePurl Yarn! Sp geeky happy with these! Vanilla ribbed pattern....
How about you? Any "wrapups" for you?

The problem is I am so bored with EVERYTHING....if I just sat down, and actually worked on them, I'd be done in just a bit.....
So I will be publishing a Finished Friday post with my two, possibly three finished projects...so stop by and join in on that one too.....
So let's see what everyone else has been up to...please link up and link back...thanks!

Stitch Along Week 14
Good evening from Parent Teacher Conference Week Hell......today was an especially trying day...out of the five conferences I had today, four were for "not good" report cards. Seeing as I've had these students for two years, I have a really good rapport with the parents.....and I had a student have a big meltdown at lunch....and mom is not happy about how it was handled and wants to meet...I have his conference tomorrow....(he is a child with a disability, and I am not in the lunch room during their lunch time)...sigh...tomorrow is another day...only two conferences.....then Thursday...which is night conferences.....next week is Spring Break...it can't get here fast enough......
So haven't done much crafting...but I did do some dyeing! A friend bought sock blanks for us to dye! So I spent a good deal of Saturday dying up some fun!
Getting ready to mix the dye...then we realized there was only one funnel...so I didn't do this part...good, as I couldn't breathe in that thing (and I have a thing about having something covering my nose)
My second one....I don't have a picture of my first and third ones.....
Maureen dying, this was her second one.....
This is Maureen's last one....a gradient...it looked like a sunset...gorgeous!
My first and second blanks, after baking....man it smelled like wet, cooked wool in her house...ewwww!!!!
The bottom one was my first one....it is self stripe and then speckled....let me tell you...I had respect for yarn dyers...and especially self-stripers....but man ALL THE PROPS....cause that is HARD and EXHAUSTING!!!!!!
I'm also participating in two Instagram A-Longs...here is one...come on over and join....
So how about you? What did you work on this week? Please connect back....I know Ginny has discontinued Yarn Along...so if anyone from there wants to play along with us....open invite....
