Jessica Jones 2 - March 7, 2018
Chicken Scratch Sock (test knit) - March 8, 2018 (only one sock)
So I did finish my test knit. I only did one sock, as the sock was HUGE, and I didn't want to have to rip out both. The pattern is very easy and I think looks great with self stripe yarn, BUT I don't think the yarn I chose was a good match...also the yarn had several blotches on it from the dying process. I did let the dyer know, and even though I bought the yarn a couple years ago, she offered to replace it! She no longer dyes that color, so I'm going to try one of her other self stripes...
I also did my first afterthought heel and was NOT a fan...I'll try it again, but hated picking up those stitches...I don't mind picking up gusset stitches, but didn't like this...plus I have holes...so will have to try again with a different sock....I couldn't get gauge, even though I went down to a US 0, and I'm a loose knitter, hence the sock being HUGE...plus I always cast on 56 or less stitches and the smallest cast on was 64...I'm going to try it again with a 56 cast-on...not posting a picture, as haven't gotten permission, but there is a picture on my Ravelry project page
Also finished my first Jessica Jones cowl, actually it was the one I cast-on second, but finished first..it's for my Hubs, but here it is...
I did the short version, just throw it on and go....LOVE linen stitch, but boy does it take forever!
The Folding Chairs socks, I posted on Friday (I posted the cowl too, but didn't have pictures of it on)
Works In Progress:
WIPS: Crochet:
Round Ripple: (Started 2006 (?) Aiden)-not sure he'd want this anymore, being a high school freshman and all, but I think I'll finish it for him. He is now a sophomore.
Around the World Afghan: (April 2010): about ¼ done - I looked at this recently and I'm still liking it, so I'll keep it...maybe make it a baby blanket instead.
Sunrise Sunset Afghan: this has been hibernating awhile, 6 squares done. I still love the look of this.
Tabard Tunic (NW Diss 2/1/14) - Haven't made a final decision on this yet.
Throwback Poncho 2/19/17
Fortune's Shawlette - 5/20/17 - Finished ball 2
Knit:
Learn to Knit Afghan: (started 2010): 3 squares done, I put this in the giveaway yarn bags..not thrilled with colors....will use squares at school for water bottles..
Shark in the Woods (11/27/14)- I really love this, but it's a lot of cabling and I'm not a fan..about 1/2 done.
Vanilla fingerless mitts (12/25/15) - Think I'm going to frog and do different mitts or crochet them.
Zombie Vixen mitts (10/17/15)- why I may crochet the others...have these and still working on them, again cabling
Garter Path Shawlette (5/30/16)- I have frogged this a couple of times...
Swinging with Winkle (6/4/16)- I love this so much! Just need to finish it! Added a few rows
Meandering Top (5/20/16) - Totally forgot about this...could get it done to wear in spring...I think I was debating whether to do the bottom ruffle...it's not a good placement for me...
Multnomah (8/21/16)- stuck on feather and fan edging, have too many stitches, in timeout. Stitch count continues to be off.
Bulky Cowl - this hurts my hands to work on...think I need slippery needles...
Splediferous Blanket - (4/15/17) Roald Dahl club, mitered blanket
Socks:
Kai-Mei: (April 2012) - has not changed,
Carlos and Arne socks (July 3 2015)- using a 9" needle...keep losing stitches.
Espalier Socks (Jan 10, 2016) - started and stopped...
Zombie Latte Socks - (6/27/17) - need some zombie socks come Walking Dead premiere!
Just Keep Swimming - (6/16/16)
Hudson Bay Socks - (6/21/17)
Muertos - 8/13/17
Twas the Night - 12/24/17
Games Socks- 2/15/18
I'm Irish - 3/3/18
Scarves/Shawls:
Splashy Flowers: (May 2011) - add a motif scarf, don't see that being finished soon...
Light in Shadows (1/14/14) - I love this so much...need to start the new direction, so need to sit down and figure it out..
Willow Fields (9/6/14) - ran out of yarn, waiting on yarn
My Shelly Valentine (2/10/16) - should finish for this year's Valentine's Day, yeah, that did not happen
Bags:
KAL/CALs:
Fire and Blood (5/4/14) - not anytime soon
Outlander MKAL (8/8/14) - possibility of finishing this..the yarn is so yummy
What else has been on my needles are my Zombie Latte socks, although I ended up doing a plain vanilla...I tried a heel flap in a contrast color...it was a bit of a pain...and there is a big hole that needs to be fixed..And I immediately started on the second sock..
And I also re-started my Irish socks..
Both yarns are from Brazen Stitchery...
I think I'll focus on the socks and my Fortune's Shawlette (crochet), as I think that is the next closest to being finished....I am trying to finish up some WIPs....all these snow days are helping! Think we'll have another on Tuesday...I had already taken a personal day (I'll get it back if school is canceled) as we have our closing that day! FINALLY!!! This has been a very long process!
I am trying to blog at least three or four times a week...I blog for Year of Projects on Sunday...I do a link-up on Wednesdays for a WIP Stitch Along..and try to post at least one other time over the week. I'm trying to update my tabs, especially my LYS one..so stop by when you have time in the week....
Until next time....

Loving the cowl. Looks quite warm and cozy. I am sure hubby will be happy to have it with all your nasty cold weather.
Looked at your test knit sock........love the yarn........it looks huge! I always do 64 stitches on a US 1.5 needle but I am not a super loose knitter. I make gauge with that combo. I have often wondered about the after thought heel. Never figured out why they would be fun. Thanks for your description of it. Will mark it off my list of things to try lol.
I so enjoy your posts throughout the week. Sometimes I think I'm the only knitter/crocheter that updates during the week. Makes me feel not as alone out here in blogging land.
Your test knit socks are pretty! But I can appreciate that they didn't work out well for you. That's a disappointment, I'm sure.
I love the Jessica Jones cowl. It looks warm and soft. And you look so pretty in it! Love your glasses :)
Your folding chair socks are great! So glad you linked to them. I love the pooling, too.
I hope you have a great week, Tammy!
Wow! I need sunglasses for some of the yarn you've been using ;) The test knit looks a lot like vanilla bean socks... I expect you could quite easily adjust the stitch count. Very generous of the dyer to offer replacement!
The cowl is just gorgeous. Linen stitch is such a lovely result but I find that every time I shift the yarn forward my autopilot tries to purl it. It really requires attention!
That's a good business woman, that dyer. These are fun sock yarns you're currently using. I like how the zombie one has flecks of "blood" about it and how the Irish ones are of green meadows, leprechauns suits, and rainbows. You look great in your new cowl. I'll have to check out that show. Wasn't that actress in some comedy sitcom where she looks like a mean roommate?
Stefanie, yes she was in Don't Trust the B____ in Apartment ___. but I know her from Gilmore Girls. She was one of Rory's college friends. She is also a knitter! She's on Vogue Knitting this month...jer name is Krysten Ritter
Love the cowl AND the socks...I love Brazen Stitchery yarns too! Congrats on the finishes and the house...how exciting!
Oh yeah! She was the friend that got mad at Rory for not telling her how she and her boyfriend hung out. STITCHES United sounds fun; is it's marketplace have aisles going into the 1600's? Renee and I have been following one another for years. I'm glad we finally got to meet in person.
