Day 7: Your Knitting and Crochet Time

2KCBWDAY7

Write about your typical crafting time. When it is that you are likely to craft – alone or in more social environments, when watching TV or whilst taking bus journeys. What items do you like to surround yourself with whilst you twirl your hook like a majorette’s baton or work those needles like a skilled set of samurai swords. Do you always have snacks to hand, or are you a strictly ‘no crumbs near my yarn!’ kind of knitter.

Step 1:  Change into my “uniform”  This is what my Hubs calls what I wear in the house.  It usually consists of one of three sweat suit outfits or the fuzzy, soft loungewear he bought me for Christmas.

Step 2:  Set up the TV table next to the bed.

Step 3:  Make sure I have cell phone and house phone on TV tray (so I don’t have to get up to answer the phone)

Step 4:  Place something to drink, usually a cup of tea or a Pepsi, and something to nosh on, on the table.

Step 5:  Have remotes handy: DVD and TV, depending on what I will be watching

Step 6: Pull out the netbook and set it up.

Step 7:  Pull out whatever project I will be working on.  I usually pull out two, a crochet project, plus a knit project.

Step 8:  make sure I have a notions bag, plus a hook case and/or needle case out, too.

Step 9:  Settle down into the bed and begin working.

Now during the week, I normally will take a quick nap when I get home, usually while watching Judge Judy.  Then I’ll have dinner and then work a bit on a project or correct papers (sometimes ze job gets in the way)

On the weekend, this is where I can be found most of the time.  Unless

a) I’m on the computer and I need to do a lot of surfing, as the netbook can be slow

b.) I actually need to go somewhere

c.) I’m doing lesson plans, which take place in the other room on the desktop.

DSC03581 The netbook is the only thing missing, I forgot to set it up….

haha! I have a uniform too, which I'm rarely out of, now that I work at home. Black yoga pants (I have 3 pairs exactly alike) and one of 4 loose t-shirts. One says I Knit So I Don't Kill People, one says something new agey about the universe (I stole it from my husband), one's just black, and one's just red. And in terms of undergarments, let's just say I'm comfortable. :)

It's so nice seeing people's knitting/whatever spots -- they always look so lived in and comfy.

You know that we're dealing with a teacher here - look at that organisation! Top marks!

OMGosh! So clever of you and your steps. I need to remember to have the remote and phone + iPad nearby so I don't have to get up from my knitting!

Your knitting spot looks perfect. I love to knit in bed while watching TV too.
